News Detail

Aug, 2016

  • DLYLA offers instructional lacrosse for all boys and girls in grades K-8

  • Beginners are encouraged to join; we are an instructional and equal playing time sports league

  • For 3rd through 8th grade players – practices will be 2 week nights a week for 1 hour (exact day, time and location TBD by coaches); games will primarily be on Saturdays, but there may be some occasional Sunday games; travel up to an hour should be anticipated for as many as 4 away games.  Our Spring season (primary season) begins with practices starting in mid-late January and ending the first week of May (games begin first weekend in March).  The season consists of a 8-10 game schedule.

  • K- 2nd grade players will participate in an “in-house” intramural league.  Boys and girls will be separated and we will use age appropriate sticks, balls and safety equipment (we will start with just sticks and soft balls and build up to hard balls, helmets and gloves for boys and goggles for girls; mouthguards are required for all players).  Equipment will be provided by DLYLA for players to borrow for the season.  The K-2 league will practice and play games on Sunday afternoons for 1.5 hrs – 2 hrs (exact times and locations TBD by coaches); This program will be offered as an 8-10 week program starting the first weekend in March and ending the first weekend in May.

  • We are a member of the Metro Atlanta Youth Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) - - MAYLA schedules all games and refs for all program members

  • Fields in use will be Druid Hills High School and Middle School fields and Briarcliff Woods Beach Club field.  We are also pursuing the use of several other fields in the area, but do not have confirmation at this time.

  • Registration fee includes US Lacrosse Membership ($30 annual fee per player).  This membership provides the league with insurance for the team and requires 100% membership participation; a player cannot begin practice until we receive confirmation from US Lacrosse that the membership is current for the appropriate season.

  • Equipment—Boys require protective equipment including, helmet, gloves and shoulder pads.  Girl’s equipment includes stick and goggles. All players are required to wear mouth guards (must be a color, not white or clear). Player starter sets are available from local sporting goods stores and from a wide variety of online vendors. A limited amount of lacrosse equipment is available for rental including 20 sets of boys and 20 sets of girls equipment. Rental fee is $50 boys; $10 girls.  More information regarding required lacrosse gear and fitting information can be found at

  • Security deposit – note that an ADDITIONAL security deposit will be collected separately for equipment ($150 boys/$50 girls).  Security deposits MUST be in the form of an UNDATAED check made out to DLYLA and will be collected at the time of equipment distribution.  Security deposits will be returned at the end of the season provided ALL equipment is returned in satisfactory condition (normal wear and tear is acceptable condition; broken, torn, ripped, missing pieces, etc. is not acceptable).  Players who return equipment in an unsatisfactory condition will forfeit their security deposit.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of registration up to one week after the player's first practice will provide the family a refund of 90% of the registration amount. Please contact DLYLA at in the event that a player's registration needs to be cancelled.

Player Commitment
DLYLA makes every effort to manage team size in order to offer each player the most desirable playing experience.  We do ask for each player to attend (2) practices per week and (1) game per week throughout the season.  If there is an anticipated conflict in scheduling, please contact DLYLA to discuss prior to registering your child.

Parent Commitment
Volunteers make DLYLA happen 100% of the time and we request that you volunteer during the season.  There is a lot to do to make sure all our players have a uniform and a field to play on.  There are many different jobs to choose from with different hours to accommodate your schedule.  When requests for volunteers are sent out, we ask that our families respond and help.  Volunteers are asked to give a minimum of 2-3 hours per season, per family.
