REGISTRATION FOR THE SPRING 2017 SEASON IS CLOSED
Registration for the 2018 Spring Season will open at the end of October. Mark you calendar to get in on the action!

STEP 1. --- BOUNDARY VERIFICATION

According to Little League rules, players MUST reside or attend school within our League’s boundary, in order to participate at Huntington Valley Little League.

Click here to view a copy of the HVLL Boundary Map.

Schools include, but may not be limited to Newland, Oka, Perry, and Smith Elementary, Kinetic Academy, and Dwyer and Talbert Middle Schools.  If you reside outside our boundary, but attend a school within it, Little League requires that you submit a copy of the School Enrollment Form.

If you are outside our league's boundaries and wish to know in which Little League you qualify, visit http://www.littleleague.org/LeagueFinder.htm for more information.

STEP 2. --- A Player's League Age

Huntington Valley Little League (HVLL) offers programs during the Spring Season for boys and girls "League Age" 4-14.  A player's League Age is determined by their age as of August 31 in any given year.  To determine your player's League Age, view the 2017 Little League Age Chart.

STEP 3. --- Fees and Fundraising

We have modified the structure of our registration fees and fundraising for 2017. Although registration fees have increased for all divisions, the mandatory fundraising fee will now be charged "per player" rather than "per family" as it has been in the past. This change is designed to make the overall fees lower for each individual player.

Another exciting change is that in lieu of the Opening Day Raffle, our older players – in Minor C and above – will have the option to participate in our first ever HVLL Hit-A-Thon!  This fun for all event will better involve our players and hopefully make it easier on parents. In addition, the Hit-A-Thon fundraiser affords players the opportunity to collect a wide-range of dollar amounts from a potentially larger group of sponsors, regardless of where they live. The Raffle however, will still take place for our younger players – in Farm and Tee-Ball.

Fees for our 2017 Spring Season are as follows:

Division Registration and Minimum Fundraising Fees

Tee-Ball $135 (registration fee) + $50 minimum fundraising commitment (Raffle)
Farm $175 (registration fee) + $50 minimum fundraising commitment (Raffle)
Minors A, B, and C$175 (registration fee) + $50 minimum fundraising commitment (Hit-A-Thon) - get sponsors or opt buyout during registration
Majors                      $175 (registration fee) + $50 minimum fundraising commitment (Hit-A-Thon) - get sponsors or opt buyout during registration
Juniors                             $225 (registration fee) + $50 minimum fundraising commitment (Hit-A-Thon) - get sponsors or opt buyout during registration

**Please note:  Registrations that occur after December 3, 2016, are subject to an additional late fee.

STEP 4. --- Tryouts and Draft - FAQ

  • Who must tryout?
Players who are League Age 8 or older, must tryout in order to be placed on a team.  League-Age 7 players who want to be eligible for the Minor C division draft must also participate in a league-sanctioned tryout. At the annual Tryout Event, players are evaluated on their abilities to throw, hit and run.  Please note:  All players will be placed on a team regardless of their performance at tryout.
  • What is the draft?
After tryouts, managers of each division (Minor C and up) participate in a Player Draft Night.  The draft helps the League form balanced teams and ensure that players are selected in divisions with other players of similar ability.  At the draft, managers first draw a random order and then draft their teams in a serpentine fashion.  For example, whomever has the last pick in the first round, will get the first pick in the second round and so forth.  The highest division drafts first (usually Majors) and is followed by the next lower division on the following night.  Any player not selected in a draft is automatically placed in the draft for the next (lower) division on the subsequent night.
  • Can players be protected?
Players may not be protected by managers, with the exception of their own children. The children of any assistant coaches must be selected during the draft or traded for on draft night.
  • In which division will my player be placed?
The divisions in which players will be drafted, depends on each individual player. Players with advanced ability may be selected for the highest division that they are eligible to play. For example, a League-Age 8 player first becomes eligible during the Minor B draft.  The majority of league-age 8 players will be drafted into Minor C.  However, there might be a small group of players that need more development, remain undrafted and are then placed in the Farm division. This arrangement gives each child the greatest opportunity to develop during the season.

STEP 5. --- Team Volunteers

HVLL is a strictly volunteer-based organization, so each team needs a lot of help during the season. As such, you will be asked about your areas of interest during the registration process. There are plenty of roles to fill. If everyone pitches in a little, no one will have too much to handle. Don't worry if you don't have any experience, we will teach you everything you need to know.
