Volunteer Clearance Requirements

The following is a list of all the volunteer clearance requirements that need to be handed in prior to providing instruction to players.  This includes head coaches, assistants, practice helpers, regular umpires, or anyone else who has repetitive direct involvement with the children.

If you already have these clearances and they are less than 3 years old, they are still valid.  As of March 2017, we are in the process of verifying that we have hard copies on hand of each clearance for every single volunteer, no exceptions.

You will be notified when your clearances have been documented by our Background Check Officer.

JUSTIFICATION FOR SUCH STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS
**************************************************************************

As of July 1, 2015, little league volunteers must comply with both the little league volunteer requirements, and the new Pennsylvania State Child Protection Requirements for Youth Volunteers.

During 2014, the Pennsylvania State Legislature passed a series of new state regulations toward increased protection of children from potential predators.  The new regulations include requirements for additional background checks for volunteers who supervise or have regular direct contact with children.  These new requirements take effect July 1, 2015.

It is also important to note that the state requirements do not replace existing Little League requirements for volunteer applications and background checks - the state requirements are in addition to the Little League requirements.
