What to expect in each division

Expectations for each division (from littleleague.org)

Tee Ball (Ages 4-6)
http://www.littleleague.org/learn/about/divisions/TeeBallDivision.htm

Often a family’s first introduction to Little League, providing a Tee Ball experience that is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals is key to growing a child’s love for the game. Typically, there will be one practice session and one game per week, each will be about 1 hour in duration. Uniform Shirts and hats are provided (pants and socks are not provided).

Players will learn the basics of baseball and team sports, including how to throw, catch, hit, run the bases, and interact with peers. Each player on a team who is present will be placed in the batting order. All players are allowed to play in the field in each inning. When a team comes to the plate, each batter will be allowed to hit regardless of outs. When the final player is up to bat, the ball needs to get to the catcher to end the inning. Coaches are allowed on the field to aid the players. Scores and standings are not to be kept in Tee-Ball. Players cannot advance on overthrows. No Stealing. On defense, players are to be constantly rotated and all are to be on the field. A parent from each team will be asked by the coach to perform dugout duty during games.

A/AA (Ages 5-8) http://www.littleleague.org/learn/about/divisions/baseball/mlbb.htm

Depending on the number of children registering for a given season, we will either have an integrated A/AA division or separate A and AA divisions. Typically there will be one practice session and one or two games per week, each will be about 90 minutes in duration. Uniform Shirts and hats are provided (pants and socks are not provided).

A/AA is to be considered an instructional league to help prepare the players for the AAA level. Players will learn force and tag outs, proper throwing, catching and batting stances, how to run the bases and slide into bases. Standings will not be kept in the A/AA Minor League divisions. Emphasize having fun and learning the game, as opposed to scores and win / loss records. Players should have an opportunity to play every position for which they will remain safe. No Stealing. On defense, players are to be constantly rotated and all are to be on the field. A parent from each team will be asked by the coach to perform dugout duty during games.

AAA (Ages 8-10) http://www.littleleague.org/learn/about/divisions/baseball/910bb.htm

The AAA Minor League division constitutes players whom are baseball age 8-10. Typically there will be one or two practice sessions (90 minutes) and two games per week (two hours). Uniform Shirts and hats are provided (pants and socks are not provided).

AAA is to be considered an instructional league to help prepare the players for the majors (Little League). AAA is a competitive league, standings are kept and all teams are eligible for the playoffs. Post-season tournament teams may be available for select players. As an instructional league, roster batting is maintained and players should expect to play multiple positions during the season.
