Changes to Pomperaug Warriors Football and Cheer

Hello Warrior Family,

This week marks a historic change to the Pomperaug Warrior Football and Cheer program. On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, we officially made the move from Pop Warner in the Northern Connecticut Pop Warner league to join the American Youth Football & Cheer organization in the Shoreline league.

Through a majority board vote and after several years of due diligence, it was determined that this move was the better going forward path for the program. The overall size, strength, and organization of this league will significantly improve our children‘s competitive experience and align more strategically with Pomperaug High School.

Please know that this decision did not come easy. Pomperaug has been a proud member of Pop Warner since 1973. It is believed that the timing is right for the program to make this switch.

At this point, there are very few impacts or issues of concern other than the changes in the towns we will be playing.

In the coming weeks, we will have a Q&A prepared and posted to the website. In addition to the upcoming online registration, we will be hosting an open house registration and board members will be available to answer any questions that you may have.
