Coach Rankins is entering his first season with the NDO Hornets’ Basketball Program, as Assistant Program Director and the 17 Under Head Basketball Coach. For the past two seasons, Coach Rankins’ served as the Head Women’s Varsity Basketball Coach at Chenango Forks High School and most recently, Coach Rankins has been named the new Head Women’s Varsity Basketball Coach at Notre Dame High School in Elmira, New York. Coach Rankins brings with him an impressive list of accomplishments, including two National Job Corps Championships, four Regional Championships, two Conference Championships and nine Tournament Championships. He brings a wealth of experience and energy to the NDO program. Rankins is highly regarded for his ability to grow programs everywhere he has coached. In his twelve coaching seasons, Coach Rankins has accumulated an impressive record of 199 wins and 60 loses. Coach Rankins began his coaching career in the State of Ohio at the Bethel High School in 1991. He was the Assistant Basketball for the Men’s Varsity Basketball Program. Two years later, Rankins headed to the Job Corps program where he spent the next 16 years at multiple training facilities around the country which in turn led him back to AAU coaching Coach Rankins is a very active volunteer in the Southern Tier communities. Among his many efforts, he was the head & assistant coach for two Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Basketball Programs, the Scream & Lady Knuckleheads out of Vestal, New York and Elmira Lady Express out of Elmira, New York. Also, he is an Assistant JV Football Coach for Binghamton High School. “I respect the NDO program’s goals to organize, develop and administer a highly competitive girls’ basketball program, allowing the players an opportunity to compete highly-skilled basketball against some of the best teams and players in the country”, said Coach Rankins. Coach Rankin’s ability to evaluate high school athletes has made him highly respected by college coaches. He has successfully assisted several athletes obtain college scholarships. “My success, in working with adolescents, begins with motivating them to understand their strengths while working on their weaknesses. This helps their skills evolve and results in a better student, a better player and more importantly a better person”, said Coach Rankins. Coach Rankins graduated from Southwest Baptist University (SBU) and Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) where he received a basketball scholarship. He was a four-year starter and scored more than 1,000 plus points during his college career. Coach Rankins is a native of Huber Heights, Ohio and currently resides in Horseheads, New York. He and his wife, Chelsea, are proud parents of three sons Andrew, Jaden and Maurice, Jr. and one grandchild Amir.
