Sam Gough serves as Principal of Next Gen Leadership Academy, which was established in August 2016 and utilizes a proprietary teaching methodology that inspires, educates and empowers youth to become leaders and positive role models in their communities.
Mr. Gough has over 20 years teaching, curriculum development and educational leadership experience. A native of England, Mr. Gough has earned advanced degrees in educational leadership and sport science from De Montfort (U.K.), Kean (U.S.) and Loughborough (U.K.) Universities. He holds multiple certifications from the New Jersey Department of Education in Administration, Leadership and Supervision, among others. In 2006, Mr. Gough was honored by New Jersey Excellence in Education as Teacher of the Year for his work with Brick Township Public Schools.
As a coach and teacher of the Beautiful Game, Mr. Gough has coached youth of all ages and stages of their development, from toddlers to teenagers. His sideline leadership includes coaching positions with Grass Roots Soccer, New York/New Jersey MetroStars, and other youth soccer clubs throughout the state of New Jersey. Mr. Gough holds advanced level coaching licenses from U.S. Soccer and is a fully-certified coach by the Football Association of England.
Mr. Gough’s educational philosophy hinges on his belief that; “In order to lift all stakeholders beyond their vision of capability, student agency must be promoted to a level where young people experience ownership, opportunity and advocacy in orchestrating an educational pathway tailored to their passions, their strengths and their future-selves”.
