Small Sided Soccer Explained

Small Sided Soccer is a program for teams U7 through U11.

Teams are split into boy and girl teams starting at U7.

Each year from U7 through U10, one more player is added to the teams, which allows the players to start to develop more understanding of team play while maintaining a lot of touches on the ball.

At U11, teams size jumps from 10 to 14 and this is the first year that we keep score & standings.

Small Sided Soccer is designed to build individual & team skills as well as an understanding of the rules of the game.

Here's an overview:

  • U7 - 3 players on the field (no goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 6
  • U8 - 4 players on the field (including 1 goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 8
  • U9 - 5 players on the field (including 1 goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 9
  • U10 - 6 players on the field (including 1 goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 10
  • U11 - 9 players on the field (including 1 goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 14

Small Sided Soccer teams will play games against other teams in the Pierce County area, typically on Saturdays from September through November.

After registration is closed, coaches will contact players in August to let them know their team assignment
