Girls' Developmental Program

Next Gen USA offers a fun and invigorating player development program for girls, ages 8-15. Under the direction of Jeff Bookman, Next Gen USA's Technical Director, the Girls' program aims to provide a progressive pathway of opportunity for female players to access and engage in educational services that inspire, enrich and educate through hands-on learning. The program helps girls develop life skills, acquire and employ conflict resolution strategies and embrace the importance of leadership in academic and athletic settings.



PROGRAM DELIVERABLES

  • Girls' Select Squad Training Workshops:  Held on the Next Gen Leadership Academy campus in Pemberton, New Jersey on select afternoons and weekends over the fall, spring and winter, the Select Squad workshops engage the players in specific team training followed by Character of Champions leadership training led by Coach Bookmanand other members of the Next Gen USA technical staff. The goal is to engage elementary, middle and high school-aged youth and provide a total of 900 minutes of group and individual educational workshops over the three seasons.
  • International Select Squad Tours: Players will travel abroad to Europe and Scandinavia to engage in competitive match play against professional club youth teams and National Select Squads. Next Gen USA led a team of middle and high school-aged youth to England in April 2017 where they played against youth teams from Aston Villa, Bristol City, Chelsea, Shrewsbury Town and Wolverhampton Wanders (SEE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS ABOVE).
  • District Development ID Festivals: Throughout the year, Next Gen USA will organize showcase events for players to train together and compete for placement on Next Gen USA teams that will play domestically and abroad in various pro Academy matches and tournaments.
  • Character of Champions Clinics: Coach Bookman and other members of the Next Gen USA technical staff will organize and lead Character of Champions leadership training clinics immediately following each Select Squad training session.

In addition to serving youth participants, Next Gen USA will collaborate with local community-based partner organizations to provide health and wellness information to the parents and family members of Girls' Select Squad participants. These activities may include, but not be limited to:

  • Health Screenings
  • Community Lectures
  • Food & Nutrition Topics
  • Addiction Resources
  • Fitness and Exercise
