T-ball Rules

South Broadland Pre-K T-Ball Guidelines

Players:
1. This is a non-competitive league solely for the enjoyment and development of the players. With this in mind, No score will be kept.
2. Max 8 players will play on the field at once. There must be no more than 3 fielders on the “no cross” line. All other fielders should be at a
traditional baseball position.
3. Every player on the team bats each inning. The lineup is to remain the same for each inning.
4. Free substitutions are allowed between innings or for injuries or emergencies in the middle of the inning.
5. Team listed second on the schedule is the home team. Home team has the 1st base side dugout.

Length of game/start time:
1. Practice is about 30 minutes.
2. Games will last approximately 30 minutes.
3. A minimum of 2 complete innings must be played to be a complete game. A 3rd inning will not be started if time has elapsed since the beginning of the game.
4. Home team keeps time (designate a coach for this job)
5. The tee should be placed directly on home plate.

Game Play:
1. The coach will place the ball on the tee. The batter must stay within the batters box.
2. All batters and baserunner must wear a helmet at all times.
3. Runners may not leave the base until the ball is hit.
4. Pitcher cannot leave the pitching area until the ball is hit.
5. There will be a “no pass” line marked no less than 8 feet from home plate. Fielders cannot pass this line until a fair ball is hit off the tee and in play.
6. We will not have a participant at the “catcher” position.
7. There are no strikeouts. It is entirely up to the discretion of the coach to assist the player in hitting the ball, if necessary.
8. Batting team’s coach will move the tee off of the base after each batter.
9. No throwing the bats.
10. Any ball that is put in play by hitting only the tee is declared dead.
12. Runners cannot advance once the ball is in the infield perimeter. (Please do not wave kids in when they would not be able to score in a real game
situation.)
13. On a hit to the outfield, the play will end when the ball is within the infield. Does not need to be in possession of an infielder.
14. Anytime the ball is thrown into the home base area or once it crosses the foul lines, it becomes a dead ball, and runner may not advance past the base they are on, or headed toward. However, the catcher may make a play on a runner at home plate.
15. Last batter rule: The last batter on the team (must be declared by batting team) is the home run batter! everyone on a base advances to home. 
16. No sliding.

Coaches and Spectators:
1. Coaches have the responsibility for their team, and spectators.  SPORTSMANSHIP AND FUN is the primary responsibility of everyone 
connected with the league. All adults are expected to set an example for the children.
2. Spectators are encouraged to add to the enjoyment of the game for the players. We would like to have our program to be a family friendly.
3. Coaches, players and spectators shall make no attempt to confuse opposing players by ridicule and put-down.

End of Game:
1. Coaches are responsible for returning all equipment to the designated equipment area. That includes any and all bases, bats, balls, helmets and 
gloves.
2. Please insure parents and kids pick up all trash and dispose of it appropriately.

Coach Pitch Rules

South Broadland Coach Pitch Guidelines

Players:
1. This is a non-competitive league solely for the enjoyment and development of the players. With this in mind, No score will be kept.
2. Max 10 players will play on the field at once. There must be no more than 6 infielders, including the catcher (optional position), pitcher
and no more than 4 outfielders.
3. Every player on the team bats each inning. The lineup is to remain the same for each inning.
4. Free substitutions are allowed between innings or for injuries or emergencies in the middle of the inning.
5. Team listed second on the schedule is the home team. Home team has the 1st base side dugout.

Length of game/start time:
1. Games start at promptly at 6:15 pm. Besides the first game, there is no practice time built into this league. First game, 30 minutes practice time. Then 15 minutes to warm up arms, work on catching and practice hitting.
2. Games will end approximately at 7:15 pm.
3. Home team keeps time (designate a coach for this job)
4. When a tee is used, it should be placed directly on home plate. A coach from the batting team should promptly move the tee after successful contact.


Game Play:
1. A batting team’s coach will pitch to their batter. The coach will pitch up to 4 pitches. After 3 swing and misses or four pitched balls, the
batter will hit off the tee. The coach will place the ball on the tee. The batter must stay within the batters box.
2. All batters and baserunners must wear a helmet at all times.
3. Runners may not leave the base until the ball is hit.
4. Pitcher cannot leave the pitching area until the ball is hit.
5. Catcher must stand a safe distance behind the batter until the ball is hit. Catcher must wear a batting helmet.
6. There are no strikeouts. It is entirely up to the discretion of the coach to assist the player in hitting the ball, if necessary.
7. Batting team’s coach will move the tee off of the base after each batter.
8. No throwing the bats.
9. Any ball that is put in play by hitting only the tee is declared dead.
10.“Outs” will be used for learning purposes and the player should be taken off base when he/she has made an out.
11.Runners cannot advance once the ball is in the infield perimeter. (Please do not wave kids in when they would not be able to score in a real game situation.)
12.On a hit to the outfield, the play will end when the ball is within the infield. Does not need to be in possession of an infielder.

3. The distance between each base is 45 feet. Distance from the home plate to the pitcher’s rubber is 35 feet. An arc of 6 feet will be marked. This arc runs from the first base line to third baseline 6 feet out from home plate. This line is used to determine a fair or foul ball.
