ABOUT: The success of the lacrosse program is the result of many dedicated volunteers. Boys' lacrosse program fields approximately 6-8 teams each year. Practices and/or games are held 2-3 times a week. Practice times range from 1-1/2 hours for the clinic to two hours for the upper levels.

Scoopers 7U - Grades Kind-1st Grade. Sessions are tentatively scheduled to begin mid-March, weather permitting. The "scoopers" program is open to players as outlined above. The goal is to introduce and develop the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment and build continuity into the program at an early age. The Scoopers program will begin with skills training in the early sessions and will evolve into a 6 v 6 format on a half sized field without goalies as the season progresses. Every player will rotate throughout the field of play in order to gain exposure at each position.

Clinic 9U -2nd & 3rd Grade. Sessions are tentatively scheduled to begin March 1st, weather permitting. The "Clinic" program is open to players as outlined above. The emphasis is high on instruction and less on competition. Games are played on a full-sized field and rules are slightly modified to eliminate heavy contact. Coaches are on the field during games and act as referees for games. Games are played in various locations throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on Saturday and some games during the week. The clinic teams may also participate in other end of season tournaments around the county.

Pee Wee 11U - Grades 4th & 5th : Evaluations are scheduled for Sunday, February, at the BUCS Field, Sunset Park. Weather Permitting. The "Pee Wee" program is open to players as outlined above. The emphasis at the "Pee Wee" level is still instructional. It is the goal of the program to have all teams of equal talent. Games are played with nearly all the normal rules with the exception of modified extra man and man down situations. Games are played throughout the county primarily on weekends and some games during the week, and are refereed by county officials. The Pee Wee teams may also participate in other end of season tournaments around the county.

Middies 13U - Grades 6 & 7: Basic skills are taught to all players and many beginners start playing lacrosse at this level. All aspects of the game are played at this level, with the introduction of man down and extra man play. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams. Most games will be played on Turf Fields.

Juniors 15U - 8th Grade.The program is open to players of all level of ability, including beginners. Games are played throughout the county on weekends and some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams. Most games will be played on Turf Fields.

VOLUNTEERS/COACHES: Coaches are greatly needed for the positions of Head and Assistant Coach for all levels of play. In addition, volunteers are needed for various tasks including equipment handout, collection of forms, team moms, fund raising activities, organization of evaluation days, field lining, etc. If you are interested in any of these areas, please email us at [email protected] for more details. Also will need to fill out a coaches application on the home page of our (Bucs) website click on the coaches corner, as well as a background check throw AA county recs and parks website. Coaches meeting to be held in beginning of February place & time TBD.

AGE RANGE: Boys' lacrosse is open to players ranging in age from five to fourteen and is divided into the five groups listed below. Newcomers are welcome at any age level.

PROGRAM COST: $160 for Scoopers $195 for all other divisions Clinic to Juniors.

SEASON: Evaluations start mid February. Team Selection and Practices start early March. Games start in April. Season ends early-mid June.

EQUIPMENT: The Buccaneers Athletic Club Boys Lacrosse Program does not provide equipment to any division except scoopers . Parents must also provide cleats, lacrosse stick and mouth guard. Uniforms(shorts & jerseys) will be provided and are yours to keep. Please note that players are prohibited from wearing any type of glasses or visor that are tinted or smoked. All glasses and visors must be clear. Please note the policy for children that live outside the area that wish to play boys lacrosse: We strongly encourage all children to participate in the program that services the area in which they live. Special requests for unique circumstances are considered. Any questions about this policy should be directed to the commissioner. For players seeking a transfer into a new program, Anne Arundel County requires that a Youth Player Release form be completed and submitted to the county sports supervisor, prior to any field participation including evaluations. It is your responsibility to follow up on the release request and provide written confirmation to the commissioner of BAC.
