Sertoma and Red Storm Join Forces

The Summerville Sertoma Club has been providing the youth of Summerville and the Low Country athletic opportunities to learn and play the game of football and participate in cheer for almost 50 years. During this time, Summerville Sertoma Club have continued to be good stewards within the community and, of course, accomplishing our overall mission of giving back to children with hearing disabilities.  Each year, the club finds different ways to improve our league and to provide a better experience for both parents and kids. It is with great excitement we announce, the Summerville Sertoma Club and the Summerville Red Storm travel football program will join forces in partnership effective immediately. This joint venture strengthens the offerings to our families as well as our relationship with the Summerville community and surrounding areas.

By combining into a single, stronger youth organization, the flexibility to choose the football program which best matches their child’s abilities and desired game day experience now exists for our families. Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible for our families. Parents and kids can choose the experience that best suits their needs. This is a concerted effort on the part of both organizations to make it easier for our families. We feel both programs are better together, and it’s the right thing to do for the community.

James “Bo” Vicini will continue to be Program Director for Sertoma Red Storm. The two organizations will operate together, with no immediate change to existing players, teams, coaches, or league structure. The Sertoma Red Storm travel team will compete in the United Youth Football League (UYFL), while the Sertoma recreational football and cheer programs will continue to compete under Sertoma. As both programs continue to work through logistics, i.e., operational structures, accounting practices, etc., our focus is to make this transition as smooth as possible for all. While both programs acknowledge that there will be many questions, we will make every effort to address them over time.

We are thrilled about the endless opportunities this partnership will provide, for now and years to come. As both programs move forward with preparing for the 2019 fall season, we are confident this alliance will strengthen the football and cheer programs being offered to the Summerville and Low Country area. Our goal is to be the place to play and provide the best product available to the Summerville and Low Country area for all athletes.

Sincerely,

Summerville Sertoma Club
