Cardinals start strong at Ladywood

The Cardinal Varsity represented itself very well in the pre-season Ladywood Volleyball Tournament. The team played two 2-set matches - one against St. James and one against St. Michael's. In the opening match against St. James, the Cardinals hung tough in the first set which was tied at 11. But the Thunder went on a 14-4 run to win the first set 25-15. In the second set, the Cardinals pulled out to a 21-18 lead but let the game get away and lost 25-22. In the second match of the day, the Cardinals overwhelmed the Gaels of St. Michaels, winning the first set 25-11 and the second 25-14. The team recorded a 94% serving percentage in the first set against St. James. And for the entire tournament, they had a 82% serving percentage. Outstanding numbers!! That's a great way to start the season.
