2024 Softball Age change

Effective for the 2024 season, the cutoff date for Babe Ruth softball will be August 31st. This will replace the previous date of December 31st. The State of NH, will be the first state in the country to adopt this rule change.  Babe Ruth Softball plans to roll out the remainder of the country later in November.  Babe Ruth Softball is adopting this rule, so they have the same cutoff date as USA Softball, which was released approximately one month ago.

What does this mean for the BYA?  Any softball player, that will have a birthday this year between September 1st and December 31st, that player will play in the same division as they did for the 2023 season.  For example, a 10 yr old girl that turns 11 on September 15th, she will end up playing 10u for the 2024 season.  This will mean she plays a third year at 10u.

Blaze softball: Blaze will also be following this date change for the 2024 season.  If your player is interested in trying out for Blaze, here is the tryout schedule.

10u
Already held one tryout.  An additional tryout will take place Friday July 28th @ 6:00pm on Field D

12u
Thursday July 27th and Friday July 28th at 5:30pm on Field C

14u
Monday July 24th and Wednesday July 26th at 5:30pm on Field C
All tryouts will take place at the BYA Complex located at 276 Smoke Street in Barrington.
10u/12u - Residents of Barrington, Strafford, Durham, Madbury and Lee are eligible to try out.
14u - Will be a USA Softball team. Residents from all towns eligible to try out.
