Lady Devils win Softball Majors tournament title

The Lady Devils defeated the Hornets on 5-1 on Thursday night at BCLL to claim the Softball Majors tournament championship.

Todd Spell's team used the pitching of Kylie Smith to power past the Hornets. The score was tied at 1 heading into the fifth before Cora Harmsen led off with a triple over the center fielder's head. Tuyet Bartes drove her in to give the Lady Devils the lead.

In the sixth, doubles from Kamryn Stutts and Sahara Wilson figured prominently.

Smith helped her cause with two hits in addition to her pitching.

The Hornets had won seven in a row to claim the regular season title. Brian Watson's team went 10-2 before Thursday.
