Dear Freedom Little League Families,
I hope you and yours are doing well and that you're in good spirits.
I'm writing to provide you with a brief update on the status of Freedom Little League. Last week, on Wednesday, May 6, we had an online District 12 President's meeting during which we heard updates from many leagues. At that time, three of the 12 leagues in the District had canceled their spring/summer season. Since then, a fourth league has canceled.
You may recall that Little League International's recommendation to suspend all local league play expired this past Monday, May 11. We had an online Freedom Board meeting on Wednesday, May 13, to discuss our options for the spring/summer season. Those options ranged from canceling the season altogether to trying to play a shortened but normal season. We concluded that before we make any final decision we wanted to get input from all of you about your preferences and concerns. Therefore, we're in the process of compiling a very short (~5 question) online survey to get your feedback. Please watch for another email from me in the next few days that will include a link to the survey.
One final note, the City of Tucson informed us yesterday that they will not be opening fields before June 1, so that would be the earliest any practice or play could begin.
