Internationals SC Finds Success at ECNL National Showcase Event

Three teams from Internationals SC experienced tremendous success at the ECNL Florida event that took place in Sanford, Florida from January 11-13, 2019.

“We are extremely pleased with our club’s performance at the ECNL Sanford National Showcase,” Internationals SC Director of Coaching Keri Sarver commented. “Although the results were favorable, it was the type of soccer that we play which excites us the most.  Across the board from our U16s to U17s to U18/19s, you could see a concerted effort to play exciting, attacking-minded soccer with individual creativity and a collective effort to combine and work with each other and off of each other.  Defensively, we were well-organized and created quality chances form our defending to attacking transition.   We will take the lessons learned and use it to improve and build toward the next phase of our ECNL season resuming in early March.”

Internationals SC U16 ECNL finished with a 2-1-0 record, tallying three goals for and two goals against for a +1 goal differential.  The competition started with a 2-0 win over Richmond United, which was followed by a 2-0 loss to Washington Premier and a 1-0 win over Tampa Bay United.

Internationals SC U17 ECNL finished as the champion of the U17 Division with a 3-0-0 record.  The team recorded 14 goals for and four goals against for a +10 goal differential.  The three wins came against BRYC Elite Academy (5-2), Loudon Soccer (5-0), and Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (4-2).

Internationals SC U18/U19 ECNL finished with a 1-1-1 record, registering five goals for and five goals against. The competition began with a 1-1 draw with Match Fit Academy, which was followed by a 3-1 loss to PDA White and a 3-1 win over AHFC.

“The ECNL continues to raise the bar as the level of competition as well as the amount of college coaches in attendance was fantastic,” Sarver continued. “The event included more than 700 registered coaches and our sidelines were filled with coaches from around the country.”
