Borzotta: Looking Ahead to Championships

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who have made it to the Regional Championships of 2023!  Another season of hard work, long hours and many full run throughs have gotten you to this point – yay to you!  To the parents of these amazing athletes – kudos on a job well done.  Much of this cheer life would not be possible without the love and support you give to your children.  Seeing them sparkle on that performance floor lets you know it was all worth it.

To the Coaches – the competitions leading up to your Regional Championships are the building blocks to making those adjustments to your routine based on the scores and feedback you have received. Those critiques are your 5,000-foot view of the routine you have been crafting for months.  Take all that information and use it to make those improvements as you will now be going up against the best of the best in your region.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the winning, don’t lose sight of the experience for these athletes and for you as well.  The memories that are made at every practice, team bonding event, game and competition are the things that will last beyond the scores, banners, and trophies.  Keep your focus not only on who stands at the top of the podium, but also teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.  Teach your athletes to be gracious in the defeats and humble in the victories.  On any given weekend, your team could be either.

If you thought time has flown since August 1st, these next few weeks are going to be even faster!  Achieving that next step – The 2023 Cheer & Dance National Championship – will be here in a flash.
More goals, more memories, more fun for all to experience.

The YCADA team is here to help you all the way through!  Keep submitting your rules and scoring questions to us so you have the proper guidance and get ready for our National Championship Routine Review, which will open on November 1st.  Stay up to date with the latest FAQs that are updated in the Coach Resource Center and posted on our Facebook page to help you find answers/clarifications for all levels and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed.  You can email [email protected] anytime for guidance.

We cannot wait to see all of you in the coming weeks and for those who want to continue their season beyond this December’s Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championship in Orlando, YCADA Globals is an amazing event created just for youth teams.  Globals takes place February 23-25, 2024 in Atlantic City, NJ and it is shaping up to be another incredible experience!  While every team is welcome to attend YCADA Globals, those who receive bids during your League, Regional and National Championships can utilize those discounts to make the trip!

Wishing you all the best of luck on your journey to the National Championship and beyond!
