GWMLL Divisions

T-Ball

Players age 4 to 6. Great for first time players T-Ball is an entry-level division used to introduce young players to baseball. Players will develop their skills while focusing on the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding and hitting. There are generally 2 practices per week - one on a week night (Mon thur Thurs) and one on Saturday - Once Games start there won't be any more practice (as it's just about the same thing!) and the games will be scheduled during the same time practices took place - One game on a week night at roughly 5:30pm and one on Saturday between 9am and 12noon.

Baseball Challenger

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide. Teams are set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 15-20 players. Challenger games can be played as tee ball games, coach pitch, player pitch, or a combination of the three. In a Challenger game, each player gets a chance to bat. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster, or when a pre-determined number of runs have been scored, or when three outs are recorded. Little League recommends that no score be kept during Challenger games. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players. One of the benefits of having a Challenger Division is that it encourages the use of "buddies" for the Challenger players. The buddies assist the Challenger players on the field, but whenever possible, encourage the players to bat and make plays themselves. However, the buddy is always nearby to help when needed.

BaseBall Single A (Coach / Machine Pitch)

Single A is a developmental division. The players are introduced to more advance practice drills and fundamental baseball strategy. Coaches pitch to the players. No "official" final scores are maintained by the league as there are no standings kept. •Teams shall be comprised of players whose league age is 6, 7, 8 and 9. •Six (6) year olds must have played at least one full season of T-Ball, attend player evaluations and must be recommended by the evaluation group and have the approval of both the T-ball and the Coach Pitch Commissioners, the Vice President and the Player Agent. •All players are drafted each season. •Teams will be selected by coaches as explained in GWMLL operating rules •Ideally teams will have a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12.

Baseball Double AA (Kid Pitch)

The Minor League Division is designed as a bridge between the developmental divisions and the competitive divisions. More advanced skills of hitting, pitching, throwing and fielding are emphasized with the goal of reaching a skill level that prepares the child for the Major Division. Pitching is also taught in this division. Scores and standings are kept with a division champion determined at the end of the season. There is the possibility of "Inter-League" play. •Teams shall be comprised of players whose league age is 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. •All players are evaluated and drafted yearly. •Eight (8) year olds must be recommended by the evaluation group and have the approval of the Minor Commissioner, the Vice President and Player Agent. •Ideally teams will have a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12.

Baseball Majors

The Major League Division is the most competitive division. Emphasis will be on the players improving the fundamental skills learned in the lower divisions. Scores and standings are kept with a division champion determined at the end of the season. In this division all teams are eligible for the county tournament at the end of the season playing for a county champion of all District 2 leagues. . 3 each All Star Tournament teams will be selected from this division - 12 year old team - 11 & 10 year old team - 10 & 9 year old team ( with the help of Minor league players if required) •Teams shall be comprised of players whose league age is 9, 10, 11 and 12 - all based on evaluation scores. •All new players to be considered for the Major division, they must attend 100% of leagues evaluations to be eligible for the draft. Unless a doctors note is presented to the Player Agent Director and is approved by the board of directors. . If a league age 12 year old does NOT attend the evaluations their name will be put into a lottery. The other ages 9, 10, & 11 will NOT be considered eligible for the Major division and will be put in the lottery for the Minor division. •Ideally teams will have a minimum of 12 to 13 players. . If a player league 9, 10, or 11 does not get selected for a Major League team they will be drafted on a Minor League team. . All league age 12 year olds must play either in the Major division, 50/70 division or they can also play both, they CANNOT play in the Minor league division.

Baseball Juniors

The Junior Division is an extension of Little League to provide a transition between Major League Division and the High School Division (18U). The Junior Division plays on a regulation diamond. This division will participate in "Inter-League" play. •Teams shall be comprised of players whose league age is 12, 13 and 14. •Twelve (12) year olds must have the recommendation of the evaluation group and have the approval of the Major League and Junior Division Commissioners, the Vice President and the Player Agent. •All players are evaluated and drafted each season. •Ideally teams will have a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12.

Softball Minor B (Coach / Machine Pitch)

Girls Minor League Softball programs may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league may be players ages 7-11. Divisions may be established within the Girls Minor League Softball Division for "machine pitch," or "coach pitch". There is no minimum or maximum composition for rosters, but most leagues have rosters in the 8-12 range. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 35 feet.

Baseball 50/70

The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was introduced in January, 2010. The division consists of players league-age 11-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/Big League field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). Many of the Junior League rules will be used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter. Players are allowed to play in both their respective divisions. Ages 11 & 12 in the Major division and the 13 year olds in the Junior Division. The player must make a decision as to which County and All-Star tournament team they would like to be considered for.

Softball Minor A (Kid Pitch)

Girls Minor League Softball programs may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league may be players ages 7-11. Divisions may be established within the Girls Minor League Softball Division for "player pitch." There is no minimum or maximum composition for rosters, but most leagues have rosters in the 8-12 range. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 35 feet.

Softball Majors

The Girls Little League Softball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for girls ages 9-12. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 40 feet. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Girls Little League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.

Softball Juniors

The Girls Junior League Softball Division is a program for girls ages 12-14, using a conventional 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 40 feet.

Baseball Seniors

The Senior League Baseball Division is for boys and girls 15-16 years old, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this teenage division of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.

Softball Senior Division

Softball Senior Division will be charted by district 2. Age group is 15 - 16 (usually high school age) Each league will have a team and come tournament team selection, that team will consist of the top players in the district.
