Triton Pop Warner cheerleaders win third place at national competition

Representing the towns of Rowley, Newbury, Salisbury, and Georgetown, Triton Pop Warner D Squad had their dreams come true when they competed in the National Pop Warner Youth Cheerleading competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on Dec. 9 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. On the team is Olivia Adam, Amy Southall, Cate Cirone and coach Chrissy Adam, of Georgetown; Arianna Basile, Ella Cadieux, Madeline Doring and Isabella Basile, of Rowley; Julianna Bucknill, of Newbury; and Margaret Farrell and Madison Jacques, of Salisbury. They worked exceptionally hard all season with their coach and their effort paid off with a third place win!

The girls began their journey when they took first place at Lawrence High School. They went on to take first place again at the Eastern Mass Conference competition at the Tsongas Arena. At last, the girls were thrilled to win their final competition at the New England Regionals in Springfield, to secure their place at nationals. The rest is history, which ends with the team bringing home the third place trophy, along with memories they will never forget.

The road to Disney wasn’t an easy one and required a lot of hard work by both the cheerleaders and their parents, who had to pay out of pocket for the expenses. The long season meant longer practices and the girls gave up weekends in order to raise funds for each other so nobody was left behind.

"I couldn't be more proud of these girls; they truly are the definition of teamwork, dedication and perseverance," said coach Chrissy Adam. "Seeing their faces when they were announced was something I will never forget. The happiness you saw in their eyes is the exact reason I love coaching. I can't wait to see what next season brings."
