Sheldon York

Bio: 

Deputy Sheldon York has been with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office since 2005. He spent his first 5 years on patrol in the South East District. Following patrol, Deputy York spent 4 years at St. Augustine High School as the Youth Resource Deputy and an assistant baseball coach.  He then returned to Patrol as a Corporal in the SW District for a year before being selected to become a Detective in the South East District. Most recently, Deputy York transferred to the Special Victim’s Unit where he helped in the creation of the Sexual Predator Offender Tracking Unit and as a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

A native of Jacksonville, Deputy York graduated in 1998 from The Bolles School where he lettered in baseball. After high school, he attended Florida State University where he was a 4 year member of the FSU Marching Chiefs. Deputy York attended the police academy in Tallahassee and began his law enforcement career with FDLE’s Capitol Police.

Deputy York is married and has 2 children, Nolan and Lucy. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Cybercrime Investigations from Boston University. A fan of all sports, Deputy York has spent much of his adult life coaching youth sports.

Bio: 
Deputy Kermit Kidder began his law enforcement career with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office in 2007.  Deputy Kidder worked primarily in the northern/central part of the county as a patrol deputy and was also an original member of the Crisis Intervention Team.  Deputy Kidder is now the current Sports Programs Coordinator in PAL.

Deputy Kidder was born in Trenton, New Jersey but has lived in Florida most of his life. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1986 and immediately went into the United States Army a month later, serving with the 82 Airborne Division while stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. After his enlistment, Deputy Kidder attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee and later became the youth pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Jacksonville, Florida.

Deputy Kidder is now married to his wonderful wife Carol and has five boys and one granddaughter.  All but two are grown and on their own, leaving him with his son Caleb (8yr old) and his granddaughter Karma (2yrs old).  Both of which you will see a lot of.  Prior to coming to PAL fulltime, Deputy Kidder has coached in our flag football program for the past three years winning one championship with the Little Titans in 2011 and looks forward to the many years to come. 

Jackson Taylor

Bio: 
Jackson was born and raised just outside of Portland, ME where he attended Windham High School. He was a 4 sport athlete competing in basketball, baseball, track, and football. After graduating in 2010, he chose to attend Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT where he continued his football career. In 2014, Jackson graduated with a degree in Biology and Neuroscience from Wesleyan. He currently attends the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences where he is pursuing a graduate degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. 

He has been involved with youth from a young age participating in Special Olympics, coaching, and mentoring young people. Since 2009, Jackson has been a strength and conditioning coach working with all age groups. His demographics have included young people, those with physical disabilities, and high level athletes. He specializes in movement quality, sports performance, and injury prevention. 

His mission is to enhance quality of life for kids. There is no greater gift than to provide others with the tools and strategies they need to become successful, law abiding citizens. PAL is the current stage where he has been brought in to work, and he is honored to be a part of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the wonderful opportunities being provided for this community.
