Save the Date! SDLL 2021 Spring Registration Dates

As everyone makes the final preparations for the holidays, South Durham Little League (SDLL) is preparing for the 2021 baseball and softball season. Given registration for the Spring 2021 season will open on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, we wanted to pass along some important dates and other information regarding the upcoming season.

Please note, while we are currently planning on a “regular” spring season, there continue to be uncertainties surrounding COVID-19. We will, as always, keep you informed of any changes that are made to the current SDLL schedule. In addition, the league is planning on playing through DPS’s spring break and Easter weekend. Finally, a number of dates are “TBD” due to COVID-19. Those will be updated as we are able to do so.

SDLL will be supporting Tee Ball, Machine Pitch, Player Pitch and Seniors Baseball divisions; Lower Minors, Upper Minors, Majors and Seniors Softball divisions in the Spring of 2021. Except for Tee Ball (all age-eligible Tee Ball players may register to play with SDLL), if a player lives or goes to school within the SDLL boundary (please click here to determine) you can register your player (league ages 4 thru 16 - click here to determine league age) beginning January 3 by going directly to www.sdll.org and selecting registration from the menu. The league will also post a notice once registration is open. We strongly encourage everyone to register your players as soon as possible as we will close registration once capacity is reached in each division. Registration fees for the Spring 2021 season are as follows:

Baseball Seniors (league age 13-16) - $200
Baseball Machine/Kid Pitch Divisions (league age 6-12) - $175
Tee Ball (league age 4-6) - $125
Softball Seniors (league age 13-16) - $175

Softball Minors and Majors (league age 6-12) - $150

Our league does not want to turn away any child who wants to play baseball or softball. If you are having financial difficulties and our registration fees would prevent you from signing your child up to play SDLL, please reach out to the SDLL player agent at [email protected]. In addition, Little League has partnered with T-Mobile to help offset registration costs for SDLL. If you need help paying our registration fees, you may be eligible for the T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant Program: https://everykidsports.org/programs/tmobile-little-league-call-up-grant-2021/application/

This year evaluations will look different than they have in the past. In order to keep everyone safe and comply with State and local guidelines we will be having evaluations over two days (Saturday February 6th and Saturday February 13th). Age groups will be assigned to a specific day and players will sign up or be assigned for a specific arrival time. Groups will be kept small and players will rotate through evaluation stations in a specific order.  Registered players will receive more information about evaluations after registration.

As in previous years, our support for the SDLL Seniors divisions hinges on the amount of players that register and our ability to identify suitable fields. Given planned and possible delays to the high school and middle school baseball and softball seasons this year, SDLL is considering running our Seniors division earlier than in previous years. If you have a child interested in playing seniors baseball or softball you are encouraged to register them as early as possible. As we learn more about plans for local high school and middle school baseball and softball seasons, we will firm up our calendar for the Seniors season.

We would also like to emphasize that SDLL supports a competitive Baseball and Softball program for everyone. We encourage your sons and/or daughters to come out and participate in our league.

Finally, some of our partners have camps and clinics planned in January, February and March as well as June. If you are looking for last minute holiday gifts or a way to get your player excited and ready for the upcoming season, check out our camps and clinics page for more information.
