Recreational Soccer

SSC PHILOSOPHY:

The goal of the Susquehanna Soccer Club recreational soccer program is to teach the fundamentals of the game (based upon each age group), sportsmanship, and most importantly to HAVE FUN!  You have an opportunity to make an impression on a young soccer player as their coach.  The best way to make that impression is not to teach them everything about the game, but to have fun with them while they learn the game.  The recreational games scores are not recorded, standings are not posted, and the team that wins every game does not receive a bigger trophy than the team that loses every game.  In the SSC recreation soccer program, EVERYBODY WINS!

CLUB RULES for Recreational Soccer:

  • All players will play at least 50% of every game.
  • If your team is leading by more than 4 goals, you MUST drop your leading scorer(s) back to defense or substitute them with another player from the sideline.
  • If an individual has scored at least 4 goals in any game, you MUST drop them back to defense or substitute them with another player from the sideline.
  • No coaches or parents are allowed to stand at or near the goal line.
  • Each team and their parents will be standing/seated on the same side of the field when possible.
  • The coach is responsible for their player’s parent’s behavior.

Here are some Practice Guidelines we ask our coaches to adhere to:

    • All practices are to be scheduled through the appropriate fields coordinator.
    • Please adhere to all of the rules and regulations of the facilities we are using.
    • Please practice only on the field you have been assigned.
    • Do not use facilities that Susquehanna Soccer Club has not been given formal approval to use. i.e. the fields at the Middle School.
    • Respect other club coaches by finishing your practices and scrimmages on time.
    • Respect the amount of available field space. There may be multiple teams scheduled for the same site.
    • Do not stack out a full soccer field for practice. Use grids for your small side games, drills, etc.

If you have questions about practice field usage, please contact your field coordinator.  Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in action taken by the Board of Directors.
