2019 Winter Academy Rec Soccer Clinic

The Winter Academy and Development Pathway League (DPL) are Martin United’s next level of player development after Fall recreational soccer.  Martin United is offering a higher level of training by professional trainers from our travel program for our younger age group players, 9u thru 18u.  This is an 8-week (training twice a week) clinic with a player focused curriculum to build skills, soccer IQ, confidence, and motor skills control.  Many players who participate in the Martin United Academy programs are more prepared to make a successful transition to competitive soccer.

Registration/Uniforms
Player fees for the 2019 Winter Academy to receive USSF nationally licensed trainers are $195 per player.  Registration includes a new "Academy" uniform.  It is very important that you enter/update the correct size on the application.

Program Description
All players who register will participate in Martin United’s "Small Sided Game" Academy program.  This will enable our trainers and volunteer coaches to benchmark players' abilities and record development week by week.  The data will be saved on an app, allowing us to share the development of your player, and clearly identify which players are ready to be selected to participate in TCSL DPL jamborees.  All registered players need to participate in all sessions to ensure development with the Academy curriculum.  We will need volunteer coaches to help run the Small Sided Games program to support and learn from the coaches who will take the training sessions and DPL game day responsibilities.

Training
Training is scheduled to commence the week of 1/7/2019.  Training will be taken by USSF licensed coaches.  Volunteer parents from the fall recreational program may observe as an apprentice.  Training is twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, at Charlie Leighton Park (CLP).  All players will train with players equivalent of their own level.  Players are required to have proper soccer attire and equipment which consists of the following:
   * club issued uniform
   * shin guards (must be worn inside socks)
   * soccer cleats (baseball or football cleats are not permitted)

DPL Season
The DPL season for birth years 2001 thru 2011 will tentatively commence 1/7/19.  Players selected to play in DPL games must pay referee fees and league fees additional to the registration fee.  Each week, players who are not picked to participate on a DPL team will attend a Friday evening "Player Development Clinic" where the needs of each player will receive one on one training in SSG format.  Places for teams that will participate in the TCSL Winter DPL "Development Pathway League" will initially be selected by a mandatory evaluation on Wednesday, 12/19/18, at Charlie Leighton Park (CLP):
   * Birth years 2009-2011 - 5:45 thru 6.30pm
   * Birth years 2007-2008 - 6:30 thru 7:15pm
   * Birth years 2001-2006 - 7:15 thru 8:00pm

We look forward to another successful Winter Academy season.  Thank you for joining and supporting Martin United!

Martin United 2018-19 Competitive Program & tryout

Vision
To provide a community focused, family friendly soccer program that delivers technical, tactical and positional awareness for recreational players and competitive players.

Philosophy
To create an environment where mistakes are viewed as a learning opportunity for everyone by using guided discovery educational techniques. We see the game of soccer as a fun, problem solving game which challenges participants mental, physical, psychosocial, cognitive ability, technical skill and tactical awareness. Mastery of all is our goal. Participants are defined as players, officials, coaches and spectators / parents.

Competitive Mission Statement
Martin United will use on line learning experiences in addition to traditional coaching educators to deliver the club’s philosophy of creating developmentally appropriate training so players learn to develop while making the learning experience challenging and fun. Our prepared coaches will use guided discovery educational techniques to instill a team culture that achieves a “mastery” for respect, discipline, teamwork, dedication and commitment.

Core Values
Have fun; be prepared; win your 1 v 1; if you lose possession try to win it back; learn from mistakes; problem solve; speed of play; strength from team; simple decision making; positive attitude.

Richard Creber, Club President
“Ideally, I'd like families that buy in to our club philosophy and agree to uphold it. I’d rather be a smaller club with like minded families to develop our youth athletes in a positive way, rather than being focused on the number of participants and wins like other clubs in the area.”
