3rd Annual Jamboree

Smithfield Packers Youth Sports (SPYS) held their 3rd Annual Jamboree this past Saturday on the Smithfield High School practice fields.  A total of 10 organizations from in and around the region played a combined 22 games over three hours and 8 fields, alternating offense and defense for 10-minute quarters.

COVID protocols included taking the temperature of all athletes and spectators as well as enforcement of mask-wearing. Hand sanitizer was made widely available.

“We had a great day for football and great turnout from our attending teams” said SPYS President Derek Boone.  Peninsula Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization (PYFCO) President Jay Stephens said of the event, “Smithfield Packers did a phenomenal job running their Jamboree.  This new PYFCO team exudes professionalism.  We look to have more events like this in the years to come”.

Smithfield Packers Youth Sports begins their inaugural season with PYFCO on March 27th.  For more information on the program please visit www.smithfieldpackers.org.
