San Jose National Little League Update

Dear San Jose National Little League Families, 

I hope this update and communication finds you and your families well.  For most of us the love of baseball is strong.   As we continue to navigate through this pandemic, we are trying to find alternative ways to stay together and give the kids some baseball.   

We know this past year has been difficult - the financial strain of the pandemic has had an overwhelming impact and devastating effect on our entire community.   As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable.   These are challenging times for us all, and we hope you’re able to continue in good spirits and health. 

At this time we continue our closure.  We hope, and plan, to reopen our fields once our county and district give us the green light to reopen.  The board is doing everything to prepare for a re-opening for a Spring 2021 season. These closures and restrictions have made an extreme impact on our league and we would appreciate any support at this time. We are a non-profit organization and are solely run by volunteers.  The future and success of the league depends on us.   If you are able to dedicate or spare any time at all to help keep the league running please reach out to us.  Below is a list of new board members and open positions.  Your input and feedback is valuable.   We would appreciate any help or support you can give at this time.  

This unprecedented time has been a financial hardship to our non-profit organization.  We continue to do everything in our power to be fair to all of our members, while at the same time possessing the ability to be viable for the children in our community.   

Credits/Refunds for the 2020 Season

The closure of our snack shack and inability to obtain financial sponsorship from surrounding businesses will prevent San Jose National LIttle from providing cash refunds, for an undetermined amount of time.  

• All requests submitted have been placed on a credit list.  Should we be able to re-open and have a season you will be able to use this credit towards the season.  

• Should you not be returning or your child will be aging out, all requests submitted prior to the July 30th deadline have been placed on a credit waitlist for a cash/check refund pending availability of funds. 

• All other credits will be placed on hold while we are closed.  We hope, and plan, to reopen our fields once our county and district give us the green light to reopen.  

• For bookkeeping purposes if you paid by check, getting a copy of the front and back of the cashed check would verify your payment to the league.  The deadline for submitting a copy of the check is February 28, 2021. 

• If you paid online we have your registration and payment confirmed.  

If your family is financially able, we are humbly asking that your family support the league by donating all or a portion of your 2020 registration for our next opening.  We understand these are trying times for everyone, and know some families may not be able to offer additional financial support.   If you would like to donate your Spring 2020 registration, to our league, please let us know.  You will be required to pay the 2021 registration fee should we re-open.  Otherwise, a credit for your Spring 2020 registration will be placed on your account. 

Children are the backbone of our community, and continuing to keep them physically active is immensely important for their mental and physical well-being.   We realize how integral our league is to children’s lives, and commit to re-opening in the near future.   

There is a district meeting next week that a board member will be attending, we should have another update then.  The league is also starting to put together fundraisers.  Please keep an eye out for the communication regarding these.  

We are here to support everyone in our community, and without each and every one of you our program would not be what it is today.   We are all here for you, and warmly welcome you to continue to be a part of our Little League family.
