SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW: Marquez Williams

MEET MARQUEZ

Tell us about your early life and athletic background.
I grew up in Athens, Ga. I have three sisters, two brothers and one beautiful daughter. I started playing
football in the 4th grade for the Stonehenge Panthers. Growing up I loved football and I loved to fish a lot.
As I got older, in high school weightlifting became a big component of my life. I played high school ball at
Clarke Central High School where we were State Runner-Ups in 2010. I attended Mars Hill University where
I played football as the starting fullback. I later transferred to the University of Miami as a graduate transfer.
In 2017 I was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars and also played for the Cleveland Browns. I have always
played fullback since the 4th grade and love playing the position.

As an athlete what is the best piece of advice you have ever received? What advice would you give to an athlete
looking to reach the next level?

Best advice I was ever given was to “keep working.” This advice drove me to continue to work and
ultimately be where I am today. No matter how difficult things got or what the situation was I just kept
working. Nine times out of ten there is something good to come for the one who continues to work.

What are you most looking forward to at your camp Saturday?
I’m looking forward to having fun! Having a great time with the kids. Teaching them valuable football skills.
But most importantly giving them a day that I hope is unforgettable. I also look forward to talking to the
parents as well and sharing some of my words with them as well.

Tell us a little bit about your family.
My family is very unique and we all have our strengths in which I like to point out. My oldest sister Elisha is
the most caring and kind hearted sibling. My older brother Brian is the hardest working sibling. Kavon my
younger brother is the most athletic. Alexis younger sister is the smartest sibling and Amani the youngest
sibling is the most truthful one. My father is the best fisherman. My mom is the best cook and for myself, I'm
the strongest of everyone physically.

Can you share a favorite football moment?
I think one of my favorite moments was scoring the first touchdown of the Mark Richt Era at Miami. Coach
Richt was a coach I always wanted to play for and someone I always respected. Having him call my number
in his first game at Miami for the first touchdown, nobody else could have written it better then God himself.

A few of Marquez's favorites:
