Assistant Director of Coaching

Carly Copplestone

Carly Copplestone

Carly can be reached at [email protected]

Carly comes to EastSide Timbers from England where she was a Physical Education teacher for 10 years. She has always loved the game of soccer and played for Barking Ladies FC, a senior women's side that has competed at Step 2 of English Women's Soccer for 10 years. Carly's leadership skills were recognized in 2013 when the club offered her a player/coach role for the 2013-14 season. This was a position she relished and lead the team to the County Cup Finals for the first time in a decade. After this, Carly was asked to join CK Basildon FC, which plays in the Premier League. After changing playing position she played for one year but then had to retire due to injury.

Carly's ultimate dream was always to be able to coach in the US. After her soccer career in England ended, she focused on coaching and made the move to Portland. Prior to coming to Portland, Carly coached at the prestigious Elite Soccer camps in Boston for three years then for the No Tippy Tappy organization in Guelph and Rockwood, Canada. Carly is also one of the Assistant Coaches and the Community Youth Development Coach for the Portland Thorns.

Administrative Director

Chris Hanefeld

Chris can be reached at [email protected]

Chris has been involved with Eastside since its inception in 2001. At that time, she was the volunteer Treasurer on the Recreation Board of Gresham Youth Soccer and continued in the position with the transition to EastSide United. Chris was hired full-time in 2004 to work as the club's Administrator overseeing all club operations, both Recreation and Competitive. She has a daughter who has played for the club since U6 and is currently playing competitively at U16. Chris and her family are also very involved in our Adult Programs.

Recreation Coordinator

Kelly Bateman

Kelly can be reached at [email protected]

Kelly has been working with Eastside for more than 18 years. Through the years she's been a parent, coach, volunteer board member and administrator and has seen the club grow every step of the way from Gresham Youth Soccer to Eastside Timbers. Her current role as Recreation Coordinator is primarily focused on player and coach placement and team formation in our Recreation program..

Kelly loves most things about her job at Eastside but it always comes back to the kids: "There is nothing like seeing a 4 year old geared up for the first time in their Eastside uniform, not being able to tell where their shorts end and their socks start! Your kids make me smile and that's what I want you to know about me."
