  Badgerland Lacrosse Association – 2023 Youth Boys’ Supplemental Rules
  
  Badgerland Lacrosse Association (BLA) will follow US Lacrosse’s 2023 Youth Boys’ Rulebook, with the following
  amendments:
  
  6U
  ·         Age and Eligibility – BLA employs two-year age segments. 6U is comprised of 5U and 6U
            players as defined in the USL Age Grouping Table.
                                  Also see BLA – 2023 Youth Boys’ Player Segmentation Guidance for additional information.
  ·         1.3 If 3x3 or 4x4 goals are not available, an inverted 6x6 goal may be used. (A-Frame.) If
                                  the 6x6 goals cannot be safely inverted, a standard 6x6 goal may be used as a last resort.
  ·         1.4 A soft lacrosse ball or other soft athletic ball (i.e., tennis ball) of similar or larger
                                  diameter shall be used. Standard lacrosse balls shall not be used at 6U.
  ·         1.5 Mini lacrosse sticks or regulation lacrosse sticks can be used. Regulation sticks should
                                  be cut down so the entire length of the stick is less than the distance from the ground to the
                                  player’s waist.
  ·         1.6 Eye protection and gloves are not required, but highly recommended.
  ·         2.3 6U games may be played with coach(es) serving as the official(s).
  ·         2.5 Visual score shall not be kept.
  
  8U
  ·         Age and Eligibility – BLA employs two-year age segments. 8U is comprised of 7U and 8U
  ·         players as defined in the USL Age Grouping Table. Also see BLA – 2023 Youth Boys’ Player Segmentation
  Guidance for additional information.
  
  ·         1.3 If 3x3 goals are not available, an inverted 6x6 goal may be used. (A-Frame.) If the 6x6 goals cannot be
  safely inverted, a standard 6x6 goal may be used as a last resort.
  ·         1.5 A soft lacrosse ball or other soft athletic ball (i.e., tennis ball) of similar or larger
  diameter shall be used. Standard lacrosse balls shall not be used at 8U.
  ·         2.1 Both teams shall play 4v4 (no goalies and 4 fielders).
  ·         2.5 8U games may be played with coach(es) serving as the official(s).
  ·         2.8 Visual score shall not be kept.
  ·         4.3 On center spot starts, a player must attempt one pass prior to shooting at or scoring a goal. (Appendix VII,
  Experimental Rules)
  
  10U
  ·         Age and Eligibility – BLA employs two-year age segments. 10U is comprised of 9U and 10U players as defined
  in the USL Age Grouping Table. Also see BLA – 2023 Youth Boys’ Player Segmentation Guidance for additional
  information.
  ·         1.6 Long poles are not permitted at 10U
  ·         1.9B Hockey breezers (pants) may be worn.
  ·         2.1 Both teams shall play 7v7 (1 goalie, 2 Defense, 2 Middie, and 2 Attack).
  ·         2.5 One certified official is required for each 10U game. If the scheduled official does not show, the game may
  be played with coach(es) serving as the official(s).
  ·         2.7 The home team head coach shall designate a timekeeper.
  ·         2.8 Visual score shall not be kept; however, the home team head coach shall designate a penalty recorder.
  ·         4.3 On face offs, a player must make one pass prior to shooting at or scoring a goal. (Appendix VII,
  Experimental Rules)
  ·         4.10 Offsides is a foul when playing 7v7.
  ·         7.1 Offending player shall leave the field and serve the time penalty and a substitute player
                                  will replace the offending player immediately. At no time shall either team play with fewer
                                  than 7 players.
  12U
  ·         Age and Eligibility – BLA employs two-year age segments. 12U is comprised of 11U and 12U players as
  defined in the USL Age Grouping Table. Also see BLA – 2023 Youth Boys’ Player Segmentation Guidance for
  additional information.
  ·         1.2 12U games shall be played on a full field.
  ·         1.6 Long poles are permitted at 12U
  ·         1.9B Hockey breezers (pants) may be worn.
  ·         2.1.1 Both teams shall play 10v10 (1 Goalie, 3 Defense, 3 Middies, and 3 Attack).
  ·         4.3 Only standing face-off allowed at 12U and only standing neutral grip allowed – No motorcycle grips
   
  14U
  ·         Age and Eligibility – BLA employs two-year age segments. 14U is comprised of 13U and 14U players as
  defined in the USL Age Grouping Table. See BLA – 2023 Youth Boys’ Player Segmentation Guidance for additional
  information.
  ·         1.9B Hockey breezers (pants) may be worn.
  ·         4.3 Only standing face-off allowed at 14U and only standing neutral grip allowed – No motorcycle grips
  
  This is the information which was presented at the youth coaches meeting.
  
  Game Cancellations or Reschedules
  
  To reschedule a game, or place an extra game on the schedule, contact officials assigner Jeremy
  Sullivan ([email protected]) to make sure officials are assigned to the game. Make sure you
  have date, time, location, and opposing team information for Jeremy.
  For game cancellations, contact Jeremy as well, as well as the opposing team.

  Officials Game Fees:
   
  - 14U and 12U - $100 (two officials, $50 per official, split between the 2 teams). If only one official, $70,
  split between the teams.
  - 10U 1-man $50 (one official, split between the 2 teams)

Boys Youth Scheduling

Host site responsibility: 
a. Provide a field that has correct lining/markings for the age group playing at the venue. 
b. Provide goals
c. Provide a table and chairs - if possible
d. Provide cones - if possible
e. Communication to all teams playing that day about field conditions or conflicts, they also need to contact the boy’s
youth VP and Jeremy Sullivan with any cancels, so the officials can be called. Example- Rain out, notify teams,
Jeremy and boys VP.

Badgerland Lacrosse Association (BLA) is a member of US Lacrosse (USL). BLA supports USL’s
recommendations and rules when feasible. Due to differences between established lacrosse
associations on the east coast and newer lacrosse association such as BLA, we feel it appropriate
for BLA to deviate from the USL Player Segmentation guidance as follows:
1. AGE SEGMENTS
A majority of BLA clubs are not large enough to support single-age segments, thus BLA will employ two-year age
segments as follows: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U (even year age group is the oldest).
2. AGE WAIVER (automatic)
a)  BLA players whose birthday fall outside of the USL Age Grouping Table/Player Segmentation
window that wish to play with their school grade level may do so.
b)  Players outside of the USL Age Grouping/Player Segmentation window and above the
corresponding school grade level may not play down.
c)  Players on an Age Waiver and playing with their grade level may not also play with their higher age
level too.
d)  BLA players may only play at one level per season.

NOTE: BLA is a recreational league. BLA players/teams that intend to participate in games and
tournaments outside of BLA should verify the age eligibility of each of their players before doing so.
