Fall 2018 Season Registration & Evaluations

I'd like to start out by introducing myself. My name is Gary Russel. For those that don't know me, I am now the Director for the Spring Hill Dixie Girls Softball league. I have been a part of this league for several years now and most recently served as the Assistant Director for the last year. Our prior Director, Jeff Shumate, decided to step back to be able to spend more time with his family. We wish him well, and I'm sure we will still see him around the fields.

I believe over the last couple of years we have been taking this league in the right direction and making it better. Of course, we are all only human and there have been bumps along the way. Our organization has been growing, and growing pains are to be expected. We have a lot of excellent individuals with a wide range of skills and talents on our board. And I believe everyone on the board wants to move forward and improve the experience for our girls. As Director, I hope to continue to lead this league in the right direction. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to a board member.

In case you haven't heard, we have been conducting some free clinics during the final portion of the summer. The next clinic is Saturday, August 11th, from 9am to 11am. It is free to attend and all are welcome. We will be working on catching, pitching, sliding and outfield drills. If you are bringing a girl to work on pitching, please also bring another girl to catch or be prepared to act as catcher yourself.

With all of that being said, I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer, which is quickly coming to an end. That also means the fall season is upon us. As a matter of fact, today is the first day of registration online. Registration will be open until Friday, August 31st. The registration fee for the Fall season is $40 for the SweeTees division and $75 for all other divisions. There are discounts for additional girls in the same family. Please note: a late registration fee of $25 will be applied for all registrations completed after Wednesday, August 22nd.

We can accept Visa and MasterCard as payment directly through the site. If you wish to pay with cash or check, please bring your payment to one of the in-person registrations on Saturday, August 18th, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, or on Wednesday, August 22nd, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Evaluations will take place on Saturday, August 25th, and will provide a final opportunity to bring your payment.

Please note: If you sign up your daughter after evaluations have taken place for her assigned division, she will be assigned to a team based on space availability and team needs.

There will also be a $20 concession fee deposit for all divisions except the SweeTees division. You will have the opportunity to receive this deposit back by working a shift in the concession stand. Please keep in mind that the concession stand is one of the easiest ways for our league to raise money, but we do have to pay an annual fee to the county for the right to operate the concession stand ourselves. Please keep this in mind and help support our league by helping out in the concession stand.

Thank you for registering for the Spring Hill Dixie Fall 2018 season! We are looking forward to a great season of fun and learning.

Evaluations for all divisions will be held on Saturday, August 25th 2018, at the following times based on the division your daughter is playing in: (Please bring your bat, helmet, and glove.)

Darlings - at 8:00 AM
Angels - at 10:00 AM
Ponies - at 12:30 PM
Belles / Debs - at 3:00 PM

The SweeTees division will likely continue to be a weekly skills clinic and will meet on Wednesday's at 6PM. Depending on the enrollment in this division, there may be some games scheduled. There is also the possibility of some games being played against a Brooksville League team. No evaluations will take place for this division. All players in this division will still receive a jersey. The SweeTees will first meet on Wednesday, September 5th.

For the remainder of the divisions, games and practices will be on the following days/times:

Darlings - Tuesday's and Friday's at 6:00 PM.
Angels - Monday's and Thursday's at 6:00 PM.
Ponies - Tuesday's and Friday's at 7:45 PM.
Belles / Debs - Monday's and Thursday's at 7:45 PM.
All divisions will have some practices / games on Saturdays!
Rainout / Makeup games will be held on Wednesday's and/or Saturday's.
There is also the possibility of some games being played against a Brooksville League team.

Practices will start on September 4th.

Opening Day ceremonies will be held on Saturday, September 29th.

The regular season games will end on November 16th, with an end of season tournament being held the week of November 26th - 30th. This will be a standard single elimination tournament.
