Ocean View Little League

Ocean View Little League Est. 1963

It has been said that baseball is a kid’s game, and few can deny the joy of watching children sprint onto the well-manicured diamond of a Little League field. Giddy, nervous, exhilarated by the possibility of the game ahead, their baseball careers beginning just as they should: among friends and family in a safe, positive environment where good sportsmanship and post-game snack shack tickets are as important as winning seasons and championship trophies.

That is Americana. That is baseball. And for more than half a century, that has been — and always will be — Ocean View Little League (OVLL). Home of the 2011 Little League World Series Champions and a springboard for athletic, academic, and professional success for tens of thousands of young ballplayers who grew up on its hallowed fields, OVLL is a national model of Little League excellence dedicated to the children and families of the Huntington Beach community it serves.

The longevity of OVLL and its rich history of success both on the field and in the community stems from the tremendous effort of many generations of board members, managers, coaches, volunteers, and parents who ensure the best interest of our players is central to everything we do. That is our legacy, and as we aim to build upon it, we look to you, the next generation of OVLL players and families.

Welcome home. Now let's play ball.

Our Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4 and up, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.  Our roots started at Ocean View Little League in 1990.  Mr. Baumfeld who was President of the league at the time, his wife Marcia Baumfeld started this program within the league.  Along the way we became our own standalone league.  We start our 29th season in 2019 and are having a blast playing ball in its purest form.

Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.

Challenger games can be played as tee ball games, coach pitch, player pitch, or a combination of the three.  In a Challenger game, each player gets a chance to bat. Little League recommends that no score be kept and no player is out during Challenger games. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, and use the same safety equipment as other Little League players.  We practice one day a week and play one game a week on Saturday’s at a park in the city of Westminster.  Our season runs from February through June.
