2018 All Star Registrations

The time for selection for the WDRLL All Star teams is fast approaching. This is to provide information about our selection process and the obligations of being on an All Star team.

How long must we commit to? Players  must be available for practices, team photos, games, and other required events starting on June 1 and continuing through the completion of their tournament run—July for 8-10 and August for Major Division. The teams will be announced during the first week of June with practices starting that week. The All Star District level tournament will begin in June.

Must the player attend practices, games, team photos and other required events?  Yes, it is an honor and a privilege to be selected for an All Star team and it must be the player’s top priority. Other team sports, social events, etc. must NOT be allowed to conflict with your obligation to the All Star team. The length and frequency of practices is up to each team manager.

What happens if the player misses practice(s), game(s), or required event(s)? As indicated on the reverse, you may be excused from your All Star obligations and certain dates by the WDRLL Board.  Under League procedures, a player will be replaced on the team for unexcused absences.

How many WDRLL All Star teams are there? WDRLL will field up to three (3) teams - one Major Division team (ages 10 thru 12), and two league age 8 to 10 year-olds teams.

How are the teams selected? Following Little League International guidelines, the teams will be selected with input from players, team managers, and player agent for their division. In the Major, a portion of the All Star team will be chosen by the players as they nominate players via secret ballot from outside of their team who they feel are the best players from their division.

How are managers and coaches selected? The managers and coaches are appointed by the WDRLL President and approved by the WDRLL Board.

How many games will the teams play? There will be at least two (perhaps as many as 8-9) at the District level.  It is a double elimination format; teams play until they lose twice. If the team wins the District 37 Championship, it moves on to additional levels.  For the Majors, the next levels are: Section, Division (State), Region, and then the World Series. The 8/10 year-olds tournament ends at the Division (State) level.

Proof of age and residency - If selected, parents must provide the player’s original birth certificate and acceptable proof of residency for District 37 review.  District 37 reserves the right to remove any player who cannot provide the acceptable proof of age and residency.

Action:  Forms can be obtained from your team's manager or the WDRLL snack stand.  Parents are asked to review, sign and date the agreement on the reverse side.  It must be returned to Jim Evans, Major Division Player Agent, or placed in the WDRLL snack stand All Star box by Friday, May 18.
