Let’s Play Ball!

As in previous years, Port Townsend Little League will hold an Opening Day Jamboree to kick off the season with a ceremony and informal games on Saturday, March 23rd beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the PTLL Fields located at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. And this year, PTLL will raise a brand new flagpole! All community members are welcome to attend the Jamboree, supporting local youth sports and encouraging our kids to engage in healthy outdoor activities!

“I am excited and proud to be part of such a great program with exceptional volunteers; one that encourages health and wellness while teaching sportsmanship and life lessons to our community’s youth”, says PTLL Board President, Rachel Brannigan.

In addition to typical opening day activities like throwing the first pitch, sharing the Little League Pledges and playing some informal games to kick off the season, the Port Townsend Little League is honored to welcome Joseph Bednarik to say a few inspirational words to start the season. Joseph Bednarik serves as the Pulpit Assistant at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Townsend. He studied philosophy at Haverford College, and has worked in literary publishing for over twenty years. He is currently the Co-Publisher of Copper Canyon Press, a nonprofit dedicated to poetry. And maybe most importantly, Joseph is a huge baseball fan and a former player!

Also attending the Opening Day Jamboree will be an Honor Guard from the American Legion, Marvin G. Shields Memorial Post #26. The Honor Guard will lead Jamboree attendees in a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate PTLL’s new flagpole, which was recently purchased and installed by PTLL volunteers.

UPCOMING PTLL EVENT DATES:
● OPENING DAY JAMBOREE on SATURDAY, MARCH 23rd, starting at 10:00 a.m.
● Home and Away GAMES will begin in April and continue into May and possibly into early June.
● PICTURE DAY on SUNDAY, APRIL 14th, 2019, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Blue Heron Middle School Gymnasium.
● LITTLE LEAGUE DAY at the MARINER'S GAME will be SUNDAY, APRIL 28th, 1:10 p.m., at T-MOBILE PARK in SEATTLE.
