The Local Little League Is Getting A New Name And A New Look

We have some very exciting news about our local little league. Our board members have been working hard behind the scenes to build a program that our community can be excited about and proud of. Our mission is to assist youth in developing the qualities of discipline, teamwork, courage, and loyalty. Little League Baseball is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes. SRLL wants to provide a program that teaches young athletes the love of the game, fundamental skills that they can build on each year, and the chance to compete in All Stars tournaments. We are building a program with a strong foundation laid out by Little League International (LLI).

In building our vision, we have reevaluated some of our fundamental league necessities, such as obtaining our own non-profit status vs using the International Little League as a non-profit sponsor. By having our own 501c3 status, we can accept larger donations and seek out grant opportunities that can be used to improve our fields, dugouts, acquire scoreboards, and even get a concession stand. We have consulted with professionals in the community and the board decided the best option to launch our program forward was to dissolve the old league and have a fresh start.

The new changes include our name and new logo. The name was chosen out of a pool of ideas, and the reason we like it, is that it represents our valley. The Snake River is a major landmark to the area and also follows the majority of our league’s boarders. We are working to create an umbrella corporation called Snake River Youth Sports. It will include Snake River Little League and eventually we hope to bring in other programs. In addition to a new name and new logo we have been hard at work on our Bylaws and Constitution. This will be the backbone of the league that will provide structure and consistency each year. These bylaws will incorporate everything from registration dates, team selection, coach and umpire training, All Star team selection, code of conduct, and more. Because of this restructuring there will be changes that will most likely affect your players. What you have been used to in the past may look a little different this year. The board is confident that these changes will improve the experience for everyone, and we look forward to working with our communities.
