NLL Opening Day - Postponed

Neartown Community~

We learned on Wednesday March 11, 2020, that Mayor Turner has suspended all city permits thru March.  This means that our Opening Day Parade and Celebration is postponed.  This does not necessarily cancel our practices and games.

The board and I have been paying close attention to the ongoing concern and procedures with the Covid-19/Coronavirus.  We are gathering information from the City, County, HISD, CDC and Little League International.  The health of our community is paramount.  Not just for our players but coaches, parents, grandparents and other friends and family.  We will keep monitoring the situation and will send out changes in schedules as soon as we have any decisions or directions.

For the remainder of the week practices are being held.  Spring break for most of the schools in our district is next week.  We don't expect practice to be held during spring break.  That is team by team decision. In the meantime:

1. Please do not send your player to practice or games if they are not well or are showing any sigs of illness.

2. Please report any Covid 19 / Coronavirus contact or self-quarantines.  We will keep any reports confidential.

For safety of the community, disclosure is essential.

3. Wash your hands - We have provided a hand washing station at the field.

4. Don't share drinks, water and snacks.

5. Tipping cap in lieu of high fives.
Reward great plays, good sportsmanship, great games with a tip of a cap.

6. Please follow the CDC guidelines as directed.

We are community and we must have each other's back.

Take care of our players and family.  Stay healthy and wash your hands.

Sincerely,
Shannon Petrick, President
