Little League Pledge and Proper Sportsmenship

This year, Neartown LL was unable to have their traditional Baseball Parade and Opening Ceremony, however; we had a successful Opening Day filled with great games, team pictures provided by Alton Photography, yummy treats donated by our sponsor Common Bond, "Free" milk shakes from Burger Joint and traditional yummy SnoBunny Snow Cones along with great weather.  Neartown LL raised the new USA and NLL flag to begin the season with high hopes and great expectations for an amazing successful 2021 Spring Baseball. Please take a moment to watch this short LL video on the LL pledge.

Pledge - Little League

The Little League® Pledge was written in 1954 by Peter J. McGovern, the first president of Little League Baseball.

Pledge

I trust in God
I love my country
And will respect its laws
I will play fair
And strive to win
But win or lose
I will always do my best

It is our job as Coaches, Parents, Volunteers etc. to help educate and teach these young baseball players about the value in team work, good sportsmanship, proper etiquette while learning about baseball and improving their skills on and off the field.

I will praise a good effort despite the outcome of the game.

Good Sportsmanship~

Sportsmanship - Little League

Little League® Sportsmanship - Little League

Players

The code of conduct requires that players exhibit exemplary behavior during Little League activities. Players must respect umpires, coaches, managers and other players and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

Parents

The code charges parents with demonstrating exemplary behavior at all times during Little League activities. Parents should remember the volunteer-status of board members, coaches and managers and respect all officials and players. Little League asks that parents help to keep playing fields safe and clean.

Managers and Coaches

Little League requires managers and coaches to consistently present a professional image, which includes appearance and behavior, during all league activities. The code of conduct calls for league officials to display enthusiasm, respect, honesty and fair play. Managers and coaches must follow all league game rules, encourage appropriate behavior by players and fans, maintain a safe game environment and consider the physical and emotional well-being of players above all else.

Spectators

Neartown Little League, like many local Little Leagues, publishes a code of conduct for parents, coaches and spectators to manage the environment in which Little Leaguers play. The code prohibits unsportsmanlike conduct, disrespect of League officials, unofficial coaching and verbal abuse of players, such as ridicule and booing. Violation of Neartown Little League’s code of conduct results in ejection from the game and could lead to forfeiture by the offending team.

Let’s make the 2021 Baseball season amazing for everyone!  Do the right thing, play fair, play hard, understand there is value to winning as well as losing a game, and most importantly let’s have fun.
