Eagle Mountain All-Star teams off to hot start!

The regular season and postseason tournaments may be in the books, but Eagle Mountain Baseball players are still repping the league this week in a trio of All-Star tournaments.

After their first day of competition, the three EMB teams are a combined 5-1 in pool play in their respective Wasatch Baseball League All-Star tournaments.

The 11U team (Aces) got things started on Tuesday, winning a pair of close contests against teams from Riverton and Herriman. After forcing an extra frame with a tie score, Eagle Mountain rallied from four down in the bottom of the final inning to beat Riverton 13-12 in the opener. Diego Roberts and Denver Dutton scored the tying and winning runs, respectively, stealing home on passed balls with two outs.

Eagle Mountain 11U then followed that up with a 9-7 victory over Herriman in the second game.

Detmer Murdock, Cache Connelly, Diego Roberts and Cougar Fox pitched for Eagle Mountain over the course of the two games. Braxton Jacob, Connelly, Fox, Dutton, Ruger Powell and Treyson Cram each reached base three times over the two games to pace the Eagle Mountain offense. Roberts, Powell and Crew Simpson each doubled.

Eagle Mountain will play Copper Hills on Thursday night in Herriman.

The Eagle Mountain 10U team (Reapers) secured two key victories on Wednesday in Riverton. Austin Young and Cruise Fox combined on the mound to hold Riverton to just three runs in a 6-3 victory in the opener.

The EM Reapers then jumped out to a good lead against Bingham in the second game, then held on for a nail-biting 9-8 victory. With the bases loaded, the tying run on third and one out in the bottom of the final inning, Ben Baez took the mound and stifled the Bingham rally by striking out the first batter he faced, and then inducing the next batter into a short dribbler in front of the plate that catcher Aaden Winkelman pounced on and alertly tagged the runner coming home to end the game.

The Reapers face Riverton on Thursday in Riverton as pool play continues.

The Eagle Mountain 12U All-Stars defeated Copper Hills 2 in their first game Wednesday by a 10-6 margin. James Carter tripled and doubled to pace the offense, while Staton Kranendonk and Milan Guerrero pitched in the winning effort.

Eagle Mountain lost to Herriman 13-9 in the second game, ending the game on a grand slam homer by Guerrero. The slam put Eagle Mountain over its seven-run limit for the inning, however, as the team came up just short. Kaleb Horinek also homered earlier in the game for Eagle Mountain.

The 12U team continues pool play on Thursday in Copper Hills.
