BUILDING CHARACTER THROUGH YOUTH ATHLETICS

NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN'S SPORTS LEAGUE

PARTNERSHIP

The Neighborhood Children's Sports League is a 501c3 (not for profit) youth sports league created for the children of Milwaukee County and the surrounding areas. NCSL's emphasis on student athletes is the sound development of participants and fundamentals of sports while inspiring our youth to develop life skills of sportsmanship, character and teamwork.

PARTNERSHIPS

Through Heads Up Football, a Player Safety Coach/Player Safety Coaches will be trained by USA Football to implement, evaluate and monitor Heads Up Football player safety protocols within the organization. Player Safety Coaches work with league commissioners, coaches, parents and players throughout the season to provide on-site clinics and mentoring to ensure best practices are used.

USA Football is the official youth development partner of the NFL and its 32 teams. Every NCSL coach is trained in Heads Up Football techniques before leading their team's season. All NCSL head coaches and assistant coaches will complete USA Football’s accredited Level 1 Coach Certification Course, which includes Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concussion recognition and response protocols; proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting; and Heads Up Tackling techniques, which aim to take the head out of the line of contact.

Wellpoint Care Network is a non-profit organization focusing on social, community, family, and mental health services. Our mental health services include an all-ages mental health clinic which accepts a wide variety of insurance options. Visits are available in person, virtually, or over the phone. We also provide occupational therapy, school based mental health services, family therapy, and have recently entered a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club to make mental health services more readily available to our young people. Wellpoint also works with youth transitioning out of the foster care system to help set them up for success into adulthood. We help to build their life skills while focusing on employment, housing, and health insurance, among others. We also use our patented Trauma Informed Care training to train educators, youth workers, mental health professionals, and countless others, including potential foster parents. We have recently made the commitment to become community-facing as an organization. The goal is to create strategic partnerships which help us expand our continuum of care and deepen our connection to community members. We want to bring citizens in to help us workshop solutions to systemic and community issues, while also taking our services out into the community and making them accessible for those who need them the most.

At Wellpoint, our mission is to facilitate equity, learning, healing, and wellness by restoring the connections that help children and families thrive. We are excited to be able to work in close partnership with NCSL to do just that.
