Service of Care
FOR
Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion is
a major concern for YFCH. We take,
quality of life and welfare of our youth very seriously and we are leading by
example and hoping that other leagues follows suit and create a service of care
for their youth athletes.
Our service of care
for heat exhaustion is as follows. In
the event a player displays any combination of these symptoms, rapid breathing
flushed skin, reddish cheeks, vomiting, diarrhea, no longer sweating, head
ache, fainting spells, and even seizures.
Player will be taken to designated shade tent located between each set
of football fields. Each tent is supplied with a fan for cooling, a dedicated
cooler with over a dozen iced towels and pedialyte. Once player arrives, volunteer will assist
with removing helmet and shoulder pads and begins cooling process.
Volunteer assists player to lay down in front
of the fan and begin applying as many ice towels as it takes to cover the body
and rehydrate player with pedialyte until the voluntary medical professional confirms
player is no longer showing any signs of heat exhaustion. Player will not be allowed to return to
current game as a precaution.
