WEAVER NAMED SOCON WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Greenville, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver has been tabbed as the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Weaver collected nine saves this past weekend as Furman earned a 1-1 draw at Samford and a 1-0 overtime victory at Chattanooga to improve to 6-4-1 overall and begin league play at 1-0-1. The Newnan, Ga., product stopped five shots in Friday's contest in Birmingham, Ala., to help the Paladins pick up their first point in SoCon play before recording four saves in Sunday's triumph in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The senior posted a 0.44 goals against average in over 204 minutes of action this past week while surrendering just one goal. For the season, Weaver has posted a 1.22 GAA and guided the Paladins to four shutouts.
