RE: COVID-19 Virus Update

USA Elite Families,

As you know, today we have seen additional cancellations in the youth sports world.  As a member club, we will follow suit with our respective governing bodies on the Soccer and Baseball sides of our club to include the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association, the U.S. Soccer Federation, and US Youth Soccer regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As you likely already know, today, Governor DeWine announced an extended spring break impacting all Ohio schools.

It is important to remember that this is a very fluid situation and we will not have all the answers today.  Undoubtedly, each day to come will likely bring additional announcements/updates.  We will of course continue to review the situation daily.  As part of this review, we are in communication with our governing bodies while they are working closely in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and international agencies including the State Department, USOPC, IOC and FIFA in real time to guide decisions on travel and participation.

We are also working closely with leagues and tournaments to better understand the full impact this will have on our club plans.  As a club, we are compiling contingency plans so that our players can play the sports they love once it is recommended to do so.  Please stay tuned for additional information to come.  We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility during these unprecedented times.

Our main priority is the safety and well-being of our players, coaches and staff. For this reason, we are reaffirming best practices for illness prevention.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. Like the flu, the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Additionally, here are several different resources and communications from the CDC and other organizations regarding the Coronavirus:

Our primary commitment and focus at all times is the health and safety of our USA Elite family.

Thank you,
