Waxhaw Home Match COVID-19 Safety Protocols & Guidelines

Waxhaw Soccer Club Home Match Guidelines and Expectations

  •  Teams cannot enter a playing field unless the previous game has concluded and the teams have left the field.
  • Players MUST wear masks at ALL times at the field per current NC Covid-19 Guidelines (Updated Feb 26, 2021).
  • Home and away coaches will verify with the referee specific players who claim one of the five exceptions to wearing a mask.  This does not guarantee that the referee will allow the match to be played.
  • A player exhibiting any COVID symptom cannot participate in the match.
  • Coaches should lay out cones to provide proper spacing for player bags.
  • No benches are allowed to be used.
  • Players should use hand sanitizer before, after and when possible, during matches at breaks.
  • Coaches MUST wear masks during the game and at all times while at the fields.
  • One day before the match is scheduled, coaches must communicate to opponent if there have been any cases of COVID within the team in the last 10 days, and if so, specific circumstances around it so that and informed decision can be made as to whether the match should be played or rescheduled.
  • Coaches are responsible for maintaining the social distancing of their teams on the sideline and ensuring that their players follow all protocols regarding mask wearing.
  • Coaches must have their team depart the team bench area within 10 minutes of the end of the match.

  •  All spectators must clear the screening questions below.
  •  All spectators must wear a mask to the field, during the game, and returning to the vehicle.
  • All spectators must stand or sit six feet apart from other spectators who do not live in your household.
  • All spectators should not attend the warm-up and must leave within five minutes of the conclusion of the match
  • Young children who have no childcare may attend the match but must stay with the spectator at all times. Children over the age of five must wear a mask.

Home Academy Festivals

  •  Each family can have two family members attend the match.

  • If you can limit the spectator count to one, please do so.

Single Classic League Matches and Home Recreation League Matches

  •  Each team is permitted up to 50 people, not to exceed 100 spectators.
  • This does not include players, coaches, and referees.

  •  Ensure your child is healthy and symptom-free.
  • Do not allow your child to participate in soccer matches or training if they are in quarantine protocol assigned by the school.
  • *** Contact your coach immediately if your child has been sent home from school due to close contact.
  • Ensure child’s clothing is washed before the match
  • Ensure all equipment (cleats, ball, shin guards etc.) are sanitized before and after the match\
  • Be sure your child has necessary sanitizing products with them at every training.

  •  Meet with home and away coaches to discuss safety, including players on each team who may be playing without a mask.  The coach should clarify the exception(s).
  • Determine if the match is safe to play.
  • If a referee feels that safety for players or the referee crew is compromised at any time before or during a match, he or she can stop the match or cancel the match.
  • Even if coaches communicate the exception(s) of specific players who may not wear a mask, the referee has the final decision on whether the match can be played safely.
