League Age vs. Birth Age
4S Ranch Little League uses the league age standard to determine eligibility. Little League International publishes an age chart to determine the league age of your child. Use the page below to calculate the league age of your child:

Division Specific Information
4S Ranch Little League division information is listed below. Some rule modification highlights are provided. To see the full rules, check the League Operations Manual.

Time Commitment
For most divisions, you can expect a minimum of one weeknight game, one weeknight practice, and a game on Saturday. Game times vary by division. See the Page 2 of the Quick Reference guide for time limits.

Tee-Ball & Little Sluggers: Expect one 75 minute game every Saturday. No practices.
Single-A: Expect practice one night a week and one game on Saturday. About halfway through the season you will play 2 games per week.


Little Sluggers (ages 4-5) & Tee Ball (ages 5-7)


Little Sluggers suggested ages:

4 to 5 year olds

Tee Ball suggested ages:
5 to 7 year olds

Designed for:
Players new to baseball
Coaches are allowed on the field with the players

Goals:

Learn the basics of baseball and have fun!
Learn throwing and catching
Coach soft pitch halfway through the season (Tee-ball only)

Modified rules:
- 50 ft base paths
- No score is kept
- Teams bat around each inning
- All players play the field each inning
- Games are 3 innings long


This is a great time for LOTS of parent help! You would be surprised how many people it takes to handle a dozen players at this age. No special skills are needed to help out so please volunteer if you can.

No tryouts or drafts. Teams are assigned by the Division Coordinator and Player Agent.



Single A (ages 6-8)

Suggested Ages:
6 and 7 year olds, with some 8 year olds.

Designed for:
New and returning baseball players

Goals:

Instructional with an emphasis on throwing, catching, and hitting
Competition is de-emphasized; no standings are kept

Modified Rules:
- Standard little league fields with 60 ft baselines
- Games last 6 innings (with time constraints)
- Innings are played until 3 outs are made or 4 runs are scored
- All players hit off a pitching machine (46 ft @ 40mph)

No tryouts or drafts. Teams are assigned by the Division Coordinator and Player Agent.


 

Double A (ages 7-10)

Suggested Ages:
Mostly 8-9 year olds with some 7 or 10 year olds

Designed for:
New and returning baseball players

Goals:

Transitional division where pitching is introduced
Emphasis on defense including coverage assignments
Competition is introduced (score and standard are kept)

Modified Rules:
- First three innings are machine pitch (46 ft @ 42 mph)
- The final three innings will be player pitching
- No walks, coach pitch after ball 4

Season:
Teams are formed by start of season player evaluations and a draft among the managers.
All teams make the playoffs that take place after the end of the regular season.




Triple A (ages 9-11)

Suggested Ages:
Ages 9-11

Designed for:
New and returning baseball players
Increased competition

Goals:
Expansion of all baseball skills
Learning to face a real pitcher
Emphasis on better fielding skills, especially in the outfield
Learn coverage assignments
Catcher development

Modified Rules:
- Players walk on 4 balls
- Only 3 outfielders
- Steals are allowed (however, no leadoffs or balks)
- 6 inning games, with time limits
- Innings consist of 5 runs or 3 outs

Season:
Teams are formed by start of season player evaluations and a draft among the managers.
All teams make the playoffs that take place after the end of the regular season
Players ages 9-10 are eligible for Little League All-Star Selection


Majors (ages 10-12)

Suggested Ages:
12 year olds and some 10-11 year olds
(minimum age for juniors is 13)

Designed for:
New and returning baseball players
Increased competition with inter-league Play

Goals:
Emphasis on situational skills
Understanding the finer points of baseball
Competitive environment

Modified Rules:
- Full little league rules and regulations are enforced
- All teams must bat around

Season:
Teams are formed by start of season player evaluations and a draft among the managers.
All Teams are entered into a double elimination playoff at the end of the season
Players aged 11 and 12 are all-star eligible
All stars have a chance to compete in the Little League World Series of Tournaments

Intermediates (age 13) & Juniors (ages 13-14)

Suggested Ages:
Intermediates: Age 13
Juniors: Ages 13-14

Goals:
Expansion of all baseball skills
Highly Competitive
Inter-league play with surrounding communities

Modified Rules:
- Intermediates - Larger baseball fields (75 ft bases, 50 ft pitching distance)
- Juniors - Standard baseball fields (90 ft bases, 60.5 ft pitching distance)
- The official rules of baseball are used (leadoffs, balks, etc.)
- 7 inning games
- Teams bat around
- Metal cleats are allowed (however, they are not permitted at 4S Ranch Sports Park)

Season:
Division specific tryouts and draft, separate from lower divisions
Interleague standings are kept for the division
Interleague playoff at the end of the season
Players are eligible for selection to the All Stars team for their respective division
Chance to compete in the Little League World Series within their respective divisions
