State Tournament Concludes

The Minors and Majors State Tournaments concluded Sunday afternoon, with both divisions requiring the if-necessary game in the double elimination events.

In the Majors, Kearney came back from an opening night loss to Omaha's Keystone Little League to get back-to-back wins against Keystone on Sunday afternoon.  They now move on to the Midwest Regional phase of the International Tournament, in Whitestown, Indiana.  The suburb of Indianapolis hosts both the Midwest and Great Lakes Regionals.  Kearney will face the state champions from Wisconsin on Friday, August 1st at noon central time.  The game will be televised on ESPN+.  The Midwest championship game is scheduled noon on Friday, August 8th, with the winner advancing to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the 79th Little League World Series.

In the Minors, Omaha Memorial Little League handed Kearney their first loss of the tournament on Sunday to force the if-necessary championship game.  Kearney responded by beating Memorial in the second game to win the crown.

The twelve players on the majors team (age 11 and 12) and the fourteen players on the minors team (age 10), all made the league very proud by their skills, efforts, and great attitudes!  Kearney Little League encompasses all of Buffalo County, and players in the league represent all nine cities and villages in the county.  The tournament teams this year had players who live and/or attend school in Amherst, Kearney, and Pleasanton.

Registration for the 75th season of Kearney Little League opens on January 2nd, 2026.  Skills Assessment takes place on Saturday, March 14th at the
Kearney SportsPlex. Times to be determined.
