Softball Changes

We are excited to announce that we are switching to a new format of divisions in our softball program. Our new age breakdown is as follows:

League Ages:
Instructional (Tball)- 4-6
Coach Pitch Softball: 6-9
Kid Pitch Softball: 9-12
Junior Softball: 13-14

Our primary softball program went from 4 divisions, not including Tball, to just 3 divisions. We are anticipating that changing our softball divisions will help increase the number of teams in the divisions so we can keep our scheduling in house and limit the amount of traveling our softball parents have to do if any. In dividing the ages we decided to allow parents of any league age 9 year old girls make the decision that is best for their child in regards to playing up in kid pitch or staying down another season in coaches pitch. All the kid pitch softball teams will play by the Major Softball Little League rules. We will still offer the chance for girls to play in all ages when it comes to All-Stars.

In closing, our goal is to grow the softball program by having a more controlled schedule that will allow us to include more instructional events like combined practices, clinics, scrimmages, and team practices. We feel this change will also allow for a more enjoyable experience for parents that may have multiple children playing in our league so they are more likely to be able to watch their kids play without being split between multiple ballparks. We know there may be challenges that arise but we hope with the help of the community that this change will grow softball back into the thriving JeffGRC program that made a trip to the Little League World Series.
