Season Options and Descriptions

PRE-SEASON USAW (FOLKSTYLE):  MONDAY OCTOBER 15TH – FEBRUARY 7TH (15 WEEK SEASON)
This class will be 1 hour long and focus on folkstyle wrestling.  This session will be fairly fast paced and for the dedicated wrestler.  There will be tournaments at the state and national level available for these wrestlers. We will be teaching more advanced technique and positions needed for success in the sport of wrestling.  Practices will run Monday-Thursday from 4-5 pm for all age groups Oct.15 - Nov. 15.  After Nov. 15th practices for the elementary and middle school age groups will be at 5:30-6:30 pm, directly after the high school practice.  A $40 USAW Card will be required to practice and compete in any tournaments.  (We will have a staff member available to assist beginners interested in jump starting their training.)  Note you do not have to start at the beginning of this season to participate, but it is recommend to start before or at the stated beginning of all the following seasons.

LITTLE-GUY:  MONDAY FEBRUARY 11TH – MARCH 24TH  (6 WEEK SEASON)

You have to be 5 years old prior to the start of this program. The practice is 45 minutes long.  There will be 10 min athletic training, plyos, and gymnastics mixed with 35 min of drilling and wrestling.  We will be teaching basic moves and positions needed for success in the sport of wrestling.  Practices will run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30-6:15 pm.

USAW/AAU:  MONDAY FEBRUARY 11TH – MARCH 24TH (6 WEEK SEASON)
This division will be targeted towards 10-12 year old advanced wrestlers (not yet in middle school) and will be 1 hour.  This session will be fairly fast paced and for the dedicated wrestler.  There will be tournaments on the USAW state and national level available for these wrestlers. We will be teaching more advanced moves and positions needed for success at the state and national level.  Practices will run Monday-Thursday from either 4-5 pm or 6:30-7:30 pm depending on the middle school wrestling schedule.  Note:  All practices will be Flathead High School.  A $40 USAW Card will be required to practice and compete.  If you compete in any AAU only tournaments you will also need to purchase that athlete membership card for $14.  

FREESTYLE/GRECO SEASON:  MONDAY MARCH 26TH – THURSDAY JUNE 6TH (11 WEEK SEASON)

Must be 5 years old prior to the start of the program. This class will be 1 hour long and focus on Freestyle and Greco wrestling.  This session will be fast paced, intensive, and for the dedicated wrestler.  There will be tournaments on the state and national level available for these wrestlers. We will be teaching advanced moves and positions needed for success in the Olympic styles of wrestling.  Practices will tentatively run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4-5 pm for all age groups. A $40 USAW Card will be required to practice and compete.   

SUMMER MAT RAT (9 WEEK SEASON)
This program starts Monday, June 10th and will run through the start of fall sports.  You have to be 10 years old prior to the start of the program. This class will be 1 hour long and focus on all three styles of wrestling.  This session will be focusing on the finer points of technique, mat strategy, and individual work on areas. Practices will run tentatively Monday and Wednesday 5:15-6:15 pm.  A $40 USAW Card will be required to practice. 

FLATHEAD VALLEY BRAWLER (YEAR AROUND WRESTLER)
This program will cover the entire year from October 15th, 2018 until the end of August 2019.  This program is designed for the dedicated year around wrestler who has goals of being an elite level wrestler.   This session will coincide with the USAW seasonal programs. There will be tournaments on the state and national level available for these wrestlers year around.  A $40 USAW Card will be required.
