Playing Sports is good for the mind, body and soul - Science backs it up!

Fremont Newark Little League Girls Softball League recognizes the benefits of girls being involved in sports. We believe wholeheartedly in our mandate of Empowering Girls through Sport to become Leaders of our Community. More today than ever science is supporting this mandate. Good things result from young women participating in sports.

Research by The Women’s Sports Foundation, whose mandate is to create leaders by ensuring girls have access to sports, has shown the following:

Fact #1 Girls who play sports have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem and lower levels of depression.

Fact #2 Girls who play sports have more positive body image. They also have a higher state of psychological well being compared to those who do not play sports.

Fact #3 Girls who play sports are more likely to get better grades in school.

Fact #4 Girls involved in team sports are significantly more likely to graduate from high school and college, have higher grades, and more often experience employment success and higher wages.

We love what this research is showing as much as we love the game softball. Most important fact of all - everyone who comes out to play has fun! Win-Win!
