Majors 11/12 Town Championship

The Girls Softball Town Championship was held Saturday, June 8th pitting Brothers Hardware against the Lions Club in a "down-to-the-last-pitch" classic.
The Lions got on the board first with a run in the first with Mia Luciano scoring on a Vita Waddell (3-for-3) hit. Brothers answered in the bottom of the inning scoring Leah Finelli (1-for-2) and Bella Cardinali to take the lead. The Lions scored two more in the third with two outs as Sofia DeRosa(1-for-3) and Mia Luciano (2-for-3) crossed the plate.
Brothers tied the score 3-3 in the 5th with Finelli scoring on an Ayla Hernandez (1-for-3, 2 RBIs) RBI double. The Lions took the lead again in the top of the 6th scoring Waddell on a McKenzie Lancaster hit.
Down 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Brothers Hardware rallied sending Jaylynn Cuervo (2-for-3) to the plate delivering a single. Victoria Micek (1-for-3) smacked a hit that drove home Cuervo to tie the score. To extend the inning, Meaghan Ahearn worked a walk on a 3-2 count. In dramatic fashion, Leah Finelli laid down a perfect bunt down the third base line that scored Micek for the 5-4 victory and the Championship.

Starters Leah Cappello (Brothers) and Vita Waddell (Lions) threw complete games with 8Ks each.

In a whole team effort for Brothers, Maya Forte made a great play up the middle to take away a hit, and catcher Arianna Tomlinson threw out two base runners behind the plate. Injured player Saniyah Gleason provided the team with moral support.
The Lions offense was led by Luciano (2-for-3), Waddell (3-for-3), Sophia DeRosa (1-for-3) and Kendra Woodside (1-for-2). The defense saw outstanding play from Catcher Deirdre Redington, Lauren Carr (2B), Adrianna Pizza (LF) and Alessia Pizza (RF). The extra hitter for Lions was Veronica Berrettini.
