COVID-19 Update - 2020 House League Season Cancelled

June 10, 2020

Hello Erindale Families,

Erindale League Executives hope this memo finds you and your loved ones are well and safe.

Sadly, the Executive has decided that it is simply unrealistic that we will be able to proceed with playing organized baseball this year. We are therefore cancelled for the 2020 season. The health of our players and families is our primary concern and even with lifting restrictions, the number of people allowed to gather is still very limited and meeting Public Health guidelines to ensure the safety of our players at this time is very complicated.

We thank you for your continued support and hope to see you all back in 2021. Please continue to check our website and/or Facebook page for fall and winter clinics.

A refund process has been initiated. Please be patient as we process all refund payments.

Latest COVID-19 update here

May 9, 2020
District 1 Press Release

To all Little League Ontario District 1 Presidents, Volunteers, Parents, Players, Sponsors and Fans.

Due to the cancellation of all 2020 Little League World Series, all Canada Region Tournaments, all Little League Ontario Divisional/Provincial Tournaments, many Municipal Sports Fields being closed until July 2, 2020 and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic here in Ontario, the difficult and disappointing decisions have been made for Little League Ontario District 1.

District House League Championship - June 19-21, 2020 - Rescheduled TBD

District Major Championship - July 10-16, 2020 - Rescheduled TBD

District Minor Championship - July 17-23, 2020 - Rescheduled TBD

Our leagues will continue to plan for a 2020 baseball season, but we just don’t know what that will look like yet. We will also continue to be hopeful that we can hold our 2020 District Championships at some point.

I understand that many of your leagues, volunteers, parents, and players want to get back to the Little League field, and so do we, but our primary focus is on the safety and well-being of all of our members.

The District will continue to monitor the progression of the Corona-virus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak in our District, Ontario and across Canada. As you know, I have been in contact with all our leagues regularly during this time and will continue to provide you updates, direction and support. I have already provided your leagues with a Pre-Check List document to follow for if and when we determine a start date for practices and games.

The District staff, with the leagues support, along with guidance from the Government of Canada, the Ontario Provincial Government, Ontario Public Health Authorities and Municipalities, will decide the course of our Little League season for 2020.

Due to the fact that every community is facing different circumstances, I have highly encouraged that each league adhere to the guidelines set forth by the above mentioned, Little League International, Little League Baseball Canada and Little League Ontario District 1.

I appreciate the patience, understanding, and flexibility of all of you. Stay Safe

Hello Erindale Families,

First and foremost, our Executive would like to make sure you and your loved ones are well and safe. These are
certainly unprecedented times we are living in, and we all need to focus on family first.

Thank you to those who have already registered. At this point in time, plans are still being made to run with regular
outdoor activities this coming season. At this time, we are unsure if we will be able to start mid-May, as expected.
Today, the City of Mississauga posted that City owned parks and sports fields will remain closed until further notice.
Once we have further information from the City, we can plan for what the 2020 season will look like.

Once the season does commence, we will put protocols in place designed to protect player safety and comply with
any City and/or Public Health directives regarding outdoor sports play.

For those who have not yet registered but intend to participate once a season gets going we would appreciate you
download a registration form from the website and email it to
[email protected] so that we can assess
the number of players we have per division and plan accordingly. Payment can be made when we can confirm the
start of the season.

If we are unable to complete a full season of play, we have committed to making adjustments to paid registrations.
