Fall Sports Registration is finally here!
Please read this email in its entirely as our registration process has changed for the 2020 fall season.
Based on feedback from the City of Atlanta and the guidelines/recommendations from medical experts, we have split our fall sports registration process into two areas: non-contact and contact sports.
Non-Contact Sports: Fall Baseball & Fall Softball
Contact Sports: Girls Basketball, Cheer (as part of the football program) Flag Football & Tackle Football
Registration Process for non-contact sports (Fall Baseball & Fall Softball):
– Registration will open on Monday, June 15 @ 8am
– Payment will be due at the time of registration
– Based on feedback from the City of Atlanta, we are expecting to play our normal fall baseball & softball seasons (league structures, practice/game schedules, etc) with new safety protocols in place.
– $75 of your registration fee will be non-refundable. These fixed expenses include uniform fees, general/park maintenance and admin fees.
– Families who were registered for the spring season will receive their discount code in a separate email later this evening.
Registration Process for contact sports (Girls Basketball, Cheer (as part of the football program) Flag Football & Tackle Football):
– Registration will open on June 15 @ 8am
– At registration, you will be added to a waitlist in order to express your intent to participate. However, payment will not be due until July 15th. This window of time (June 15 – July 15) will allow us to learn more from the City of Atlanta as they re-open contact sports. This will also allow us to gauge the interest of participation for these sports for the fall season.
– $75 of your registration fee will be non-refundable. These fixed expenses include uniform fees, general/park maintenance and admin fees.
Contact sports have also pushed back their start dates.
– Flag/Tackle Football Start Date: August 15
– Girls Basketball Start Date: August 30
– Cheer Start Date: August 15

We would like to thank all of our families who have reached out to show support during these unprecedented times. NYO remains focused on our 70 year mission of being a premier athletic program where young people learn life and athletic skills through team sports that emphasize character building, sportsmanship, healthy competition, and positive coaching as part of a family friendly and safe community. All of this is made possible by the 1,000+ volunteers that spend countless hours on the sidelines, in the dugouts and behind the scenes to keep everything running.
We have shared this a few times recently but NYO is a non-profit organization that operates and maintains all of the grounds at our facilities within Chastain Park as well as the offsite facilities we utilize in the community (school fields/gyms, church fields/gyms, etc). Registration fees for NYO programs only cover 70% of the total operating budget. The remainder comes from the generous donations we receive from NYO partners, sponsors & families.
When you register for an NYO program, your fee helps us cover the following expenses and more:

+ Field Operations & Maintenance
+ Game Field Prep & Setup
+ Gym Operations & Maintenance
+ Admin & Graduate Student Support
+ Field Conversions (baseball/softball to football and back)
+ Field, Gym & Facility Sanitation & Cleaning
+ Uniforms
+ Sports Specific Equipment & Scoreboards
+ Officials, Umpires & Refs
+ Off-site Field/Gym Rentals, Maintenance & Sanitation
+ Sport Specific Trophies & Participation Shirts
+ Technology
+ Marketing
+ And all the miscellaneous expenses that pop up when 4,000+ kids are playing sports
